If someone wants to commit suicide, let them. Having someone else do it, regardless of being "humane" is murder. Tell the person to get a gun and do the deed. If they can't pull the trigger then their life is more important to them than they thought.

Hmmm...read harder, because they DID pull the proverbial trigger on his "suicide machines".

I find it laughable, a professional murderer. That's what you're saying. If YOU want to die, take YOUR own life. I stand by my statement, if you can't do it yourself, then there is more to live for than you thought.

Have you ever known anyone who was dying of cancer or ALS? It's horrific, the pain that they are obviously in but unable to do anything about. There is a certain point where they know they're going to die, and what time they have ahead of them is nothing but suffering. We shouldn't go killing them indiscriminately at that point, but if a person expresses a wish to die, why deprive them of that?

Also, why do you demand that the person commit the act themselves? Other than the potential burden on the person committing the DAS, is there really a difference if the person in question has obviously consented?

I don't like a lot of the things Kevorkian did (in particular the TV special), but the cause was a just one. I sincerely hope that if I am ever dying in extreme pain, unable to do anything about it, that there is someone like Kevorkian around to help.

If we can keep our species alive for enough time he will be considered a legend once assisted suicide is known as moral and legal everywhere

By your logic a person with terminal cancer, whose days are filled with extreme physical pain and fear of impending death, still has "more to live for" because they're bed-ridden and can't do it themselves.

I can't tell if you're just trolling or if you truly are this incredibly stupid.

Of course. Stop being selfish, those people DESERVE to suffer to the end of their natural lives.

No, IMHO, Dr Jack lived a noble life.

But wait, why did not Kovorkian take his own life and instead elect to die slow not fast?

In my mind the answer is simple, Jack died fast and he did not linger, but thousand of other people live in constant pain for years and decades, while their quality of life is torture and miserable.

Me and all my relatives have put clauses in our will preventing fruitless medical procedures to extend out lives as a vegetable.

Yes, DR Jack asked important questions, and I honor him for it. The myth is that Jack was the first or only one to ask these questions, but it will always be an open human question. Because nothing in life is more certain than death. The whole question is death with dignity.

I think a person has a right to take their own life or allow someone to do it for them. At the same time, a doctor/whoever should have the right to refuse if asked.

He was an attention whore.

Anybody who knows anything about hospice or hospice care knows that this is the norm. Once you register with a hospice organization you are exempt from investigation.

I don't want to say any more for fear of ivestigation... because I've been there.

But once they're dead fuck the rest who helped them to the end?
