Oh Joy! Yet another draft thread.
Howsabout BOTH sides write your congresscritters to make sure we don't have one?
This will save your military from an influx of the unwilling, save the DOD from having to waste resources on them, save the peaceniks from serving, and allow the military to do its job without the non-volunteers whining about policy. It will leave more money to pay those of us who WILLINGLY serve, thus cutting turnover, which is the real personnel problem facing the services. I need unwilling troops like I need underwear woven from poison sumac. Being a supervisor is sufficient hassle without conscripts.
FWIW, a country is ill-served by soldiers who pick and choose the wars they fight. Our job is to win them. (Hell, I didn't quit when Clinton was elected!)
The duty of choosing those wars is up to the .gov. The duty of getting off their fat arses and influencing .gov policy belongs to the slugs, er, public. Inaction is still a choice, so we get the government we deserve.
