so what is this!

It's not American.

Quote from your owned link.

A short clip with an interesting acceleration challenge between a Canadian AF F/A-18 Hornet (...that false canopy...) and (I suppose) a Formula Indy car during an unspecified Air Show in North America (where else!!).

Just because it's an F-18 that does not mean it's an American.

You have to remember that the US sells F-18s to other nations like CANADA, Greece, Turkey, (F-14s to Iran in the 70's), and others (incomplete list)

I thought the bike would smoke everything. I wouldn't have expected the Porsche to overtake the bike until close to 200 mph. In 1/4 mile speeds wouldn't get much over 100 mph. That track musta been hella long.

They may be fast but they cannot level a building if tied to it when leaving.

You know acceleration > speed..... They can make laws for speed limits but they can't make laws how fast you can get to the limit...

Um, they can and do. It's called exhibition of speed...and it's much worse than a speeding ticket.

That all depends on the state you live in. I could be wrong but Montana and possibly Florida do not ticket for quick accelaration. Also it could be possible that Canada does not have any such laws but I do not know.

To be annoyingly proper.. it IS American, because North AMERICA is AMERICAN... it's just not from the United States of America.

It's a runway DUH! And is about 2 miles long.

The bike DID smoke them all. The car only passed as the bike either slowed down because he thought he was done or the plane scared the poop out of him when it passed.

It looks like the bike slowed down. He should have been able to hit 180MPH, and I don't think the Porsche could catch up to something doing 180MPH that quick.

Once you hit about 120, a bike's acceleration isn't that good. It takes a lot more then 2 miles to get a bike up to top speed. Plus, we don't know what kind of bike that was.

The bike rider was probably talking about the air flow as the plane passed him. "WTF, I could have died!"

When most people say America, they ususaly mean the USA not Canada.

Drag.

A Porsche is smooth and sleek and contained. Bikes have a awesome power to weight ratio and can accelerate like mad, but aerodynamic drag, particularly due to the rider, prevents sustained high speed.
