Definitely worth playing... More of a 'proper' RPG than either of those (although ME2 is my favorite Bioware game).

I would suggest you grab Dragon Age if you can. Prices are pretty good now since it has been out for awhile. I had a blast with this game. I am on my 3rd play through and have all the DLC. Fun and interesting questlines and story. If you like RPGs then you should have no problem enjoying this game.

I can't wait to see the riot that is probably occurring on the Elder Scrolls forums right now...

Good news. I just started playing DA:O and I really like it. But I wish they would have spent more time in QA and less time in quickly developing DLC, Awakening, and now 2.

I spent 30 minutes last night playing out the "Battle of Redcliffe" only to discover a bug. I killed all the baddies but couldn't continue....the battle music just kept playing and no matter what I did I couldn't advance the story. A brief google search revealed this bug...sounds like you have to finish your battle down by the town/docks.....unfortunately for me my strategy was to retreat to higher ground and congest the baddies in a pass so I only had to deal with a few at a time. That's a very logical strategy.....which leaves me to blame Bioware for not debugging the damn game thoroughly enough.

Ok. Rant over. Providing there are no more bugs like this to piss me off, I'll likely spend money on DA2. But I still wish Bioware (and others) would spend more development $$$ on QA - even if it means delaying release date.

I don't have a lot of time to play games and as such, I prefer quality over quantity!

I do hope they polish it up a bit, add some complexity and depth of storyline to the game. It came so close to being truly excellent.

For the last few weeks the speculation threads on the Elder Scrolls forums have been at fever pitch over whether or not the GI cover would feature TES V.

Didn't this game just come out?

And an underwhelming expansion?

A second one is coming already?

I'll probably still buy it, though.

That should tell you something, right there. Dragon Age was delayed for, well, an age. They still let massive bugs in such as the one you mentioned, as well as the game pushing your cpu to 100% usage while playing in certain cases. I've heard that this QA blunder might have killed some 360s, who knows about PCs. Each patch for Dragon Age makes it a little worse, but is required if you want to play their hot-pocket DLCs.

And yeah, it doesn't help that each "mini-expansion" (if you can call them that) they release just turns up the dial on my weak-o-meter. I am nervously optimistic about DA2, but the first game took so long to make and only came out a number of months ago. So the sequel is slated to drop in March of next year? And it sounds like the plot writers are putting in leavings from a rejected Mass Effect storyline. Not to mention that in DA2 the various origins are replaced by a single static (besides male or female) protagonist with a dumb name. Hawke? Yeah, I guess I'll make room for another hot pocket RPG.

Dang that was fast. Valve needs to take a lesson so they can get Ep3 out!

I wonder if you'll be able to import your characters [similar to how ME2 was handled].

Supposedly the main character is a new hero.

The new player character is a dude named Hawke. He's a refugee from the blight and rises to be the Super Awesome Dude over the span of a decade apparently.

So standard fantasy fare.

But hey, so was Baldur's Gate 2 and that game is up with the best.

I just got it last week with Steam's sale. I'm digging it, and it's surprisingly hard considering much of the chaff released these days.

I actually drew all those dudes up to the higher level to let the knights fight it out with me, as I simply couldn't beat them down below (I went straight to redcliffe without getting the healer), and I never had a lockup.

I have difficulty pulling and separating groups, though. On most maps, it seems that entire groups will just keep following you until you hit the fake wall. I'm currently stuck in the temple in Haven next to a room with 2 mages and a few cultists, which is near a hallway and large room that has a shit-ton of cult reavers. I can't seem to aggro one of thsoe groups at a time, as they all just bust through as soon as one dude from one of the rooms finds me.

it has locked up a few times in the mage tower, though.
