What the...

Already available for pre-order? That must be a mistake? Unless BioWare has been working on Dragon Age II even before they released Origins last year (which might well be the case I guess), I mean... there's no way that they could make a game just as epic if not more than Origins for the sequel in such a short period of time between the release of the original and the sequel. I bet that the trailer will let us know that DAII will be released next year. Well, it's surprising, but pleasing at the same time, no doubt... one thing though, I sure hope that they'll be using a more recent engine and that they won't just milk the original engine for eons to come similarly to what Bethesda have been doing since Morrowind up to Fallout 3.

Either that, or they'll take your money to make interest on it in the hopes that their inevitable video ad campaign targeted toward the "have sex with everyone in the game and kick ass in bone-crushing combat" crowd will keep you from cancelling your pre-order.

Myself, I'm pretty curious as to what Bioware considers "super hot" for graphics technology. I'm almost positive that my definition will be different from theirs. I'm sure it will make my computer heat up greatly, though.

I feel like they're rushing stuff now, maybe to appease their overlords at EA - not sure. If there is a trailer soon I'm sure it won't tell us anything new.

Yeah the battle at Redcilffe was poorly done it has to be said.

There was NO indication that you had to finish at the docks. I also fought on the high ground since that's logical to do. I spent an age up there before I decided I'd better rally down to the docks to see what the fuck is going on. My party was getting pretty sore by then so stumbling across another wave of much stronger bad guys....FFFFFUU

Still, loved the game. Just not that part.

I just hope it's more open, allowing you to walk around and explore a lot more. The world just felt so small and confined, this was my biggest gripe with the game.

I'd be happy for a reboot of Baldurs Gate.

No BG is fine leave it alone.

What I want is more epic plot lines like NWN2/MOTB. Not just kill the big evil monster.

And some more interesting mage spells (powerful, high level abilities)

And more varied and difficult combat that isn't tailored to console fanboys with zero attention span.

DAO was good but not as good as NWN2 IMO.

Hmmm . . . this has the stench of EA all over it. Bioware is good, but EA is going to corrupt them.

The Redcliffe attack is notorious for having a zombie or two from those waves get stuck in the houses or docks. You have to hunt around for and kill those stuck ones for it to finally end.

Hummm... well I don't know why people had any problems there, maybe due to mods overriding some scripted events, because I for one was never mixed up on what to do or where to go. When the first waves of undead stop at the top there's a soldier coming from the lower level near the docks alerting you that they need reinforcements down there as soon as possible, then he goes down by himself and... well, logically you just follow him which leads you to the last battle.

I guess it's possible that sometimes with or without mods involved that the events don't trigger for some reason, like in many other games out there, so maybe I was lucky, but I've completed DAO at least six times since I bought it, four of which had a dozen mods or so installed and I never had a single issue during the Redcliffe battle.

Some more information in the first post of the following thread:

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/3064634/1#3064634

Basically, what we know is the following:

* The main character's surname is Hawke
* Hawke survived "the Blight"
* Hawke is known as "the Champion of Kirkwall"
* Hawke is a "refugee"
* DA2's story will span 10 years
* DA2 will be released in March 2011 for PC, XBox 360, and PS3
* Morrigan is NOT Hawke's mother; Hawke is NOT the "god baby"
* Hawke can be male or female
* Hawke is human
* DA2 is a single-player game
* "More than half" of the Dragon Age left by the time Awakening begins
* "Hawke can, indeed, be a mage."
* There will be more DLC and patches for DAO before DA2 is released
* No word so far on different editions

Which should mean so far that:

* We cannot change the race of the character (he or she is only human)
* None of the characters we make in DAO or Awakening will "transfer" to DA2 à-la Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2 continuity system (a number of DAO players thought it might have been the case since we could after all transfer our DAO characters to Awakening)

Planescape: Torment is the best RPG of all-time, yet no sequel

Nor should there ever be one. Leave perfection alone please.

Now, another game with that level of plot, character development, story, and superb detail, I'd be all over. Too bad it will never happen, unless you could mods for other games.

Seems like they are moving VERY fast with DA2. I would like to know what happened with Morrigan and the PC in DAO though, my character go through to her, slept with her, knocked her up and that was it, she disappeared. That's one hell of a loose thread.

Wonder if the Morrigan storyline will be part of some DLC to snag before they release DA2? I too was hoping that would be in the sequel. Thats a whole storyline in itself.

Just got the original DA origins during the steam summer sale. Am most of the way through and am sort of disappointed in it. Guess I expected too much maybe. The gameplay and especially combat seem a little repetitive. So many spells/powers/combat feats, etc, but noting seems to really stand out as a great spell or skill. And the drops are really annoying. How many copies of worthless item do you really need to pick up???

I am playing as a spellcaster and thought I would play through as all 3 classes (yes, I have too much free time). However, I think one playthrough will be enough. Glad I didnt pay full price. I got it on steam for less than 20 dollars, so it definitely is worth that. Probably wont pick up the expansion or the second game though, unless they are really cheap on steam like this game.

BTW, does anyone else find it irritating to have a quest icon on the map, only to find out that to finish the quest you have to purchase downloadable content?? This seems really tacky to me. I am talking about the dwarf guy at camp. The quest marker shows up continuously, but you have to purchase the downloadable content to do the quest. At least they should let you decline the quest and get rid of the icon.

Not only is the quest marker that costs you money to unlock tacky, but the dialog choices that left you hanging until you paid for the DLC was worse.

I wish they'd release a GOTY edition... I've got DA:O on my PC, but I can't game on my desktop all summer because of the heat (no AC in the room where my desktop is) so I'm stuck with my laptop (which doesn't have the chops for it) and my xbox 360

I'd be more interested in an original title rather than another sequel...that said even though DA:O wasn't great, it was entertaining for a while so I'll likely buy it when it comes out.

You didn't like the expansion? I thought it was great, Justice is easily my favorite Bioware character since HK-47.

I was underwhelmed from the start when I had to patch to 1.03 which stopped me from using a lot of my mods. Then you had practically none of the same characters back, and the ones that were shown were weak cameos. The enemies were hilariously easy. With my imported character I trampled rough-shod over pretty much any opposition. Then the glorified addon was over. Dialog felt more diluted. The story was more focused but not as good of an experience for me. The new npcs felt very average and there wasn't sufficient time for me to get attached to them. And even now patch 1.03 is still a problem for a lot of players.

I enjoyed the main campaign more, even though I sound like I detest it. $40 for a product like Awakening is pretty steep. Though people are getting more used to paying more these days without too much of a fight. I saw two screenshots from Dragon Age 2 that look pretty neat. The armor looks more angular and bizarre, like the world you inhabit is somehow different or alien. Even from the small thumbnails, I am inclined to like the difference.

Anyone pick up the Lelianna's Song DLC? Lelianna, before she went into the Chantry and became super preachy. Only DLC that even looks interesting.
