well, i just loaded it up (11/18 12:00 here in Seoul), and it works fine. Surprised that it seems like a smooth launch. In ultra mode it runs fine with my setup, but there's some constant flickering going on with latest nvidia drivers (344.65) in ultra mode....guess it's too much to expect a perfect launch! Hopefully Nvidia will release some optimized drivers to resolve the constant flickering.

It's a youtube video you'll never be able to tell the difference

Wonder if the PC version has full controller support to make it more like the console versions (DA:O on xbox was a different game to PC version because of the controls)

According to reviews it does which is part of the reason I'll get this game first over some other older RPGs I wanted to play.

Just unlocked it via VPN. I've been working from a station at home all last week and this one so I can play in between working.

Unfortunately major issues with nvidia right now from reading their forums and what I'm experiencing mirrors that. Lots of flickering textures everywhere. Performance looked good though as SLI is working. Very beautiful game from what I saw but not playable right now with all the flickering.

There is a new level of texture fidelity over ultra, above what we see in Frostbite games like Battlefield 4.

I think I'd rather play it with a controller too actually. I played through it on xbox then when I got into PC gaming again I bought it on a steam sale. Played the DLC on PC

Think I preferred playing it with a controller

Most of those action RPGs are optimized for a controller. I'm playing shadows of mordor on PC with one for example. Makes sense unless they do something with the interface to make a mouse worth it.

I just read the review for this how are you liking it so far? I thought the "Vendetta" system (whatever it's called) was REALLY cool and I think that should have been implemented into Dark Souls.

I think if that system had been in Dark Souls I MIGHT have respected that game a little more.

The idea that your death makes an enemy "level up" was really cool. Great to hear it works well on PC with a controller.

Also awesome was people on your friend list and their friends who die give you a revenge mission. You can go avenge their death by killing the captain they died to. They did so much right with SoM

It has really neat mechanics if you're looking for a sandboxy game. It doesn't have a strong main plot though. I like it, but bought it thinking it would be more RPG like.

Dang my weakness. I went ahead and used the GMG code to get a few bucks off of the game.

I was hoping for it to be more RPG like that's the only reason I didn't want to pick it up. That and the fact that so many of these games end up being close to $100 when you purchase the game + DLCs ($75 for SoM) so I'm being more careful of which games I'm picking up.
Since I'm already getting Borderlands the Prequel for $90 to play with my brother I'm not trying to pick up too many games but there are so many choices I want to play right now that are actually interesting to me.

So I have a VPN, how do I use this trick to get cheaper games? Are there any caveats?

I used it for Crysis 3 and there were no caveats. All you do is go to the mexico Origin store (i just typed "origin mexico store" into google) and there you go. I used the Hola VPN to go through Mexico. Worked like a charm. Paypal check out. I don't know if it is because I was using Chrome or because of the Hola extension, but there is even a little banner bar that pops up and will translate each page for you, but its all pretty straight forward and obvious.

Since it is through Origin, it should just show up in your games library

Thanks. Do I need to use paypal check out since it's with my VPN or can I still use my Creditcard (with US Address)?

I would be careful if I were you guys. Buying from a different region is a clear breach of their licensing and knowing EA they may ban your account. It wouldn't be hard for them to do an audit.

It's one thing to use VPN to unlock a game early (I doubt they care much) but another thing to be taking money from them. I imagine they will put the hammer down on that pretty quickly

Can I just play the game in "offline" mode or no? Not too familiar with the Origin system.

Guilty.

I probably won't start playing until this weekend myself, perhaps a little later. I just wanted to get in on the pre-order discount since I know for sure I will be playing this one.

This. In the past, publishers have locked/banned/blocked keys sold through grey market or purchased in other regions. It opens in a day guys, have a little patience.

http://www.dnaindia.com/entertainme...-having-a-gay-character-in-a-key-role-2036086

Publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has reportedly cancelled all pre-orders for the game from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The cancellation of the release happened because the game contains a key male character who has a homosexual orientation. Apparently, players can choose to have a romantic and sexual relationship with him only if they play as another male character.

A statement said: "In order to avoid a breach of local content laws, EA has withdrawn Dragon Age: Inquisition from sale in India and the game is no longer available for pre-order.

"All affected purchases for Dragon Age: Inquisition will be refunded. This applies regardless of payment method or date of purchase.

"Customers who pre-ordered the game will be contacted directly and will be fully refunded."

The game distributor's site says: "Rather than face the wrath of some of India’s more prudish segments of society, EA have pre-emptively decided to make the game unavailable in India, without confirming or commenting on which local laws were being breached."

EA’s regional marketing director Simon Smith-Wright said: “The current action we’ve taken only affects Dragon Age Inquisition.”

The game was not expected to perform very well in the Indian market. However, the sudden pull-out of the game from India comes both as a disappointment for gamers and a cause for suspicion. EA says the game has been 'withdrawn from sale' in India, which means it was originally going to be released. What prompted EA to make a U-turn?

Ouch. Sucks to be India, wonder how many are going to be pirating it?

EA claimed a couple years ago that the reason they won the Golden Poo award twice in a row was that people were upset that their RPGs had homosexual characters. The ME trilogy showed up in some fringe religious websites.

only hacked PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can pirate the game thanks to Denuvo, as for the ban, very unfortunate, but there are many different cultural and legal considerations when launching a product like this, I wonder if they are simply not going to release the game there and or can remove the romance options for a local version (like German game versions with reduced violence)

Between all the crap ports, DRM, and just general gameplay I don't care for, it's becoming very hard to enjoy gaming.

Anyway, I'll pass on this one, maybe worth $5 if it's cracked in a year.
1. Wait 3 months for Witcher 3: no DRM for GoG version, better gameplay, and historical PC-first developer attitude.
2. ?????
3. Profit

Unlocked this afternoon via VPN. Played a couple hours so far and I am enjoying it. Seems like a good blend of origins and DAII. If you want to combat to be just like Origins, fine. Game supports that. Want something more action RPG'ish? Game supports that too.

Some of the upgrade mechanics seem a bit wonky and the cutscenes are jerky as hell. Apparently the cutscenes/conversations are "locked" to 30FPS but I'm seeing maybe 15FPS half the time. That is a weird issue that can likely be fixed, as in-game visuals are smooth as silk on at 1200P with a single 780TI and everything except MSAA maxed.

I'm seeing some of the graphical issues others have mentioned too. I.e., some flashing textures. Mostly small stuff on the armor. Pop in of tesselated features (primarily on the roads) is an issue too. But for the most part it runs extremely well. Graphics are very, very nice and the story seems to be much stronger than DAII. At least based on my initial impressions.
