Looks like it was made for control pad rather than mouse and keyboard

I'll be using a pad :sneaky:

I always play RPGs with mouse and keyboard on PC ,I do have a game pad but hoping don't have to use it for this game.

Seems like they are putting PC gaming controls(M&K) at the back of the queue with regards to console gamers, shame really since would of been happy if they just tried to put some real effort into the controls for PC gamers.

Well now I have to try this out when I get home for sure just to see what all the fuss is about in regards to the PC controls. I still want to finish DA2 before I get too far into this new one, but the curiosity is killing me.

I'm a little surprised the RPS review didn't mention any issues with the controls except for the item highlighting.

Most reviews never do,they automatically give Bioware games 8 or 9/10 and put it forward for "game of year award " ,one reason why I've lost faith in reviews years ago.

Well- thanks guys- I will be waiting as I suck at a gamepad - so will wait for the mods, etc. Hopefully they will also put in a patch that will allow for proper keyboard/mouse play.

I have only played up to the first "Boss" / starter area and yea, the PC kb+ms controls are pretty much like what BSim500 and Mem posted.

As well as the other annoyances that Mem added in his post but the biggest ones for me are

1) In combat, why cannot the character move to the enemy that you click on to attack
2) Movement in combat seem slow for some reason.
3) Tactical Camera does not zoom out enough

I agree, but RPS usually seems to be pretty honest.

Don't expect much from mods. Unless they're specifically allowed the mod makers will lack the tools they really need to do anything significant.

Is dragon age keep the only way to customize the story from the first 2 games or can you do it in inquisition? If you start a new game in inquisition without it knowing your choices for the first 2 games will it just randomize those choices? I have a couple different save files from DA:O but think that inquisition would be more interesting if my main character had the baby with Morrigan and I never did that on any playthrough. Still, it might end up that she just had the baby by some other means since I'm guessing it might be important to the story.

this game is much more intuitive with a gamepad. I tried it with my wireless Xbos 360 controller and its much better than KB & mouse. I personally prefer it, only like KB & mouse for FPS or strategy games, it works great with controller.

still waiting for the day one patch before getting fully immersed into it....nvidia drivers helped but it still feels like its missing some polish....any word on the day 1 patch?

Save files do not import into Inquisition/Keep. To keep the world state of Inquisition kind of in line with your save games (or what you remember of them), you have to customize your world state via the Keep. I did it, went through almost all choices, and took me about an hour.

While the Keep does not import saves directly, it does pull "most" of your choices from your saves that have been uploaded to bioware. then you can go ahead and make the choices for what where not imported or change them as needed.

I'm curious any AMD users trying out mantle with this game, how does it compare to DX?

I have seen the benchmarks just curious what your mantle experience is like.

I dont get it. Dont the devs play these games before releasing them. I mean, if you can have a day 1 patch ready, why not just put it in the game? This game, Watchdogs, ACU, all were terrible on release.

Ahh another quote of the day. Devs dont release it, the shareholders do. Games are released in unfinished states, news at 11!

Day 0 patches are because the data you buy/download is the gold copy which is frozen about a month earlier. Can't touch it.

I was excited about Far Cry 4 more than DA:I...but after trying to login to Uplay all lunch I might give DA:I the #1 spot for my next game i'll play.

Glad I got FC4 for "free" with my 970...

btw i found this fix for stuttering. combined with new drivers it really runs cut scenes much better:

http://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/2mm319/dragon_age_inquisition_30fps_cutscene_framerate/

Or if you are too lazy to go to reddit and then the youtube video it is as follows

on your desktop shortcut add the following the

"path\to\game\game.exe" -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+
Apparently this is a fix for alot of frostbite engine games as well

You using Mantle API?

Second question for PC gamers using mouse and keyboard I hear it's not as good control wise as previous DA games ,any comment?

I wasn't even aware there was mantle?! I will have to take a look, I don't think I was using it.

Yse, keyboard controls are clunky. The fight against the pride demon was annoying because everything seems so clunky and the lack of free look with the mouse (need to hold right mouse button to look around) and being unable to click to move (need to use WSAD) is also annoying. You do get used to it but is clearly gamepad first. I do have a gamepad so I may try it out and see how it goes with that.

played the game last night for a few hours after unlock.

the cutscenes are choppy.

it seems like frame rate limiter was set at 30fps.
Character creation screen is also somewhat choppy on max settings.

PC controls are CRAP.... :\
I think i was spoiled by shadow of mordor in combat controls.

lastly the two handed warrior is so under powered with crap PC controls compared to the mage and bow ranger.

You really need to spam the potions on a warrior as there is no real block.
The skills for warrior are also dismal.

The game really favors being a Mage over everything else.

Yeah I tried that but it got a few choices wrong. Actually, who killed the final boss and what happened to Alistair were completely wrong, and I'd consider those a big deal

Is there an anisotropic setting in the menu? I haven't been able to find it and I'm wondering if I should force it from the NV control panel.

Like every other Bioware game ever then. They have always been very pro-mage. But I don't play their games to powergame, so it doesn't bother me too much.
