played the game last night for a few hours after unlock.

the cutscenes are choppy.

it seems like frame rate limiter was set at 30fps.
Character creation screen is also somewhat choppy on max settings.
To quote myself
Or if you are too lazy to go to reddit and then the youtube video it is as follows

on your desktop shortcut add the following the

"path\to\game\game.exe" -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+
Apparently this is a fix for alot of frostbite engine games as well

PC controls are CRAP.... :\
I think i was spoiled by shadow of mordor in combat controls.

lastly the two handed warrior is so under powered with crap PC controls compared to the mage and bow ranger.

You really need to spam the potions on a warrior as there is no real block.
The skills for warrior are also dismal.

The game really favors being a Mage over everything else.

Yes Quite agree with the controls

Updated to the newest drivers but I'm still getting crashes to the desktop once an hour or so. Each time during cutscenes.

I originally was going to start with a warrior since I usually take the vanilla class for my first playthrough and then do a fun class once I'm familiar with the game. This time I think I'm going to skip the warrior and do a dual wield rogue then a mage. I'm guessing the warrior will get stronger as the game progresses but from what I've read it's a pretty boring class. Anyone else have first impressions on the classes?

Nvidia card or AMD ?..You might have to wait for a further game patch or newer drivers yet again.

All I can suggest check heat and anything overclocked(check stability).

Nvidia. Gtx 680. No overclocks on cpu or gpu. Never had any instability in any other game on the same hardware.

Could it be the settings I've chosen for the graphics?

No idea, guess you can play with the settings, normally things like AA and shadows I disable or lower the quality if I want more speed.

I can't believe this game doesn't have mouse look like every other single game released in the last decade. Who thought it would be a good idea to hold the right mouse button to have to look around?! Ugh...the controls are terrible.

^^^ apparently this is having issue with MP, so if you are doing mp and you have that enabled, you may need to remove it to play MP

So I've put about an hour into the game just to see what all the fuss is about. I must be lucky, but for me the controls for getting around are almost exactly the same as DA:O or DA2. I use a Razer Tartarus (had to retire the Nostromo) controller and the mouse, so I have been playing these games with WASD and right mouse button the whole time.

When in the tactical view you can give orders to your party just as before. If you target an enemy you will auto attack. In the normal "action" view the game plays more like an action game but it is a little unwieldy. You have to move yourself into attack position and then hold the left mouse button to attack. Using special abilities in the action mode requires pressing a number key as far as I can tell.

My only real annoyance is that you can no longer click on an enemy or piece of loot and automatically move to it. You have to WASD up to what you want to interact with. That seems like an unfortunate design decision. I am used to pausing in combat and clicking on my target and then unpausing. To do this now you first have to go to tactical view.

Performance is a little choppy on my 7850 (i5 4670K) but I have not bothered to tweak any settings at all. I have a GTX970 arriving tomorrow so I'm not too worried about performance at this point.

**Edit **

Load times seem rather long. Makes me wish I had a games only SSD in my system.

The mouse look deal is just like any other AD&D game ever made. Dragon Age Origins, DA 2, Neverwinter nights, pretty much all party based RPG's that use a tactical combat system do this.

That said, I still not used to this one yet.

Like every other Bioware game ever then. They have always been very pro-mage. But I don't play their games to powergame, so it doesn't bother me too much.

The only exception was Dragon Age 2. They definitely left the mage fairly weak in that one. Not that they were useless, but they played a far more support role. Dragon Age: Origins, on the other hand, the mage could almost solo the game in the late levels. Especially in the expansion.

DRM Denuvo kills your SSD?

I am getting this thread pop up everytime i search for stuff on DA:I

Can anyone confirm its FUD?
Because im a bit worried as my system is a pure SSD system, and the last thing i want to do is replace a 1TB SSD because a game killed it.

Tried Mantle rather then DX?

My CE has shipped, however in no rush to play it,should be ok on my 280X OC card at 1080P.

I let you know what I think of the controls when I install the game.

Did you find DA2's story good?

I thought it was decent. In fact, I completed it in a short amount of time, which goes to show that it managed to hold my attention.

With DAO, it too me a year to beat the game as I lost interest so many times. DAO was a good game overall, but it was extremely grindish, especially in the deep roads.

If what was reportedly happening was going on with mechanical drives, you know the guys running old and fragmented 7200rpm drives, would report it as unplayable. If the level of usage was as reported. I'm calling this BS because every forum post I can find links to this random post with no proof. Just a screenshot that may show before install and after install. The numbers don't look worrying at all cause they are bogus. The guy who posted the screenshot never responded to questions. People probed him for info on his system setup and he went silent. His numbers indicate his SSD is writing something like 2GB a second. Impossible.

Here's someone who did realtime monitoring for 22minutes while playing the game. Not close to the original post's claims.

I can't enable Mantle on my card (7850). I think it is too old or low powered for it. I'm going back to DA2 for now anyhow. I am having a good time with it and want to finish before really getting into this new game. We'll see how long my resolve holds.

Just finished the opening section and so far the game's graphics, animations, music and atmosphere are solid. Clearly, this is no DA2, and that's a very good thing.

Sadly, the controls are totally bonkers. I see plenty of others have mentioned this but the inability to click on something to move to it or start attacking it is really jarring. Further, unless I'm missing something, the game is forcing me to hold down the attack button to swing my sword. I desperately want an auto-attack feature in this game, I'm almost certain DA2 had it but it's been awhile...

I actually plugged in my PS4 controller and lo and behold, the game feels great with it. Everything feels finely tuned with a controller, but really sloppy with mouse + keyboard. Infuriatingly though, you can't switch between them without going out to the main menu each time. Just bonkers design...

Lastly, I'm playing a sword/shield warrior and the charge/bash style has been really fun so far. I'm sure this will change, but so far it's been very arcadey with no real strategy. It's early, but I haven't had to control any of my teamates either. Playing on Hard difficulty.

Yeah controls are way worse than the previous DA games (never had a problem with either of them):
-Not auto moving to attack/loot.
-Tactical mode not auto scrolling, have to hold both mouse buttons and drag......wth.
-Tactical mode is also far too zoomed in can't see nearly enough imo.
-Spells/skills menu you have to drag it around to see the skills at the bottom...

A lot of very odd features on a PC game. The addition of jumping seems kinda unnecessary in a DA game to me also.

So far I am enjoying the game I am about 4 hours in but the controls keep pulling me out of the game as they seem really clunky.

I've had a problem starting new games. As anyone else found themselves in a dark volcanic rock looking area, with a bunch of small spires around one large one, right after starting your character, when you are supposed to show up in chains under interrogation?

What does it do, just not load at all?

After the initial loading screen, everything just turns black. The official Dragon Age forums has a thread where hundreds confirm the same issue all with dual core processors. In fact an official rep posted a response saying the game will not work on dual core processors or tri-core. The game requires a quad core processor to run.

sounds like the latest COD, hackers solved the problem first (might not be possible here because of the stronger DRM) and later an official update corrected this problem.

Glad I did not pre-order this game. Still trying to make up my mind, but might wait and hope for some kind of sale. I have an HD7770, does anybody know if mantle works on first gen GCN cards? Not expecting much, because I have a decent cpu, but it might be fun to play around with.
