Just finished - decent ending - they definitely learned their lesson on ME3. My achievements say I have not killed 10 dragons- hmmm... There are no more to kill in the game... another glitch? Or does it assume you have to do a replay to kill 10?

I switched to hard in the second chapter- should have gone back and started over to get that achievement... wont replay as I don't think the choices you make change the story enough to warrant another play through. Anybody else replay - or maybe replay with a totally different character- but the story wont change any so "yawn" - but the combat will. Maybe worth a try ...

I killed 10 in both my games. Did you forget one?
1) Hinterlands
2) Crestwood
3) Storm Coast
4) Western Approach
5) Hissing Wastes
6) Exalted Plains
7) Emerald Graves
8-10) Empire du Lion

So I finished DA2 and am probably going to fire up DA3 tonight. I've played a mage in the first two games, should I just stick with that, or is there a reason not to play mage in this game?

I've been trying not to read all of the posts in here so I do not get spoiled.

Mages are not as fun in DA:I as first two DA games, the eight slot limit and lack of magic healing really hurts, they are more of support type character in this game, rogue from what I have seen of all the classes looks fun, however play what you feel is right for you.

Choice of companions cover all possible classes at least twice over,so very easy to get a good balanced group.

I'll say plenty of purple quality dagger drops in DA:I as well from dragons, various places etc...
Later in the game you can normally craft better gear then even purple drops.

I've done eight and only got two to go in Empire Du Lion.

So definitely ten dragons in total, some are easy to miss if you don't explore properly.

Hmm, well that stinks. Really enjoyed playing a mage; could be about that time to try out a rogue though. Thanks for the tip.

I also have to say after making my way through DA2, there were actually a lot of cool nods and bit and pieces from my saved game of Origins. Hope the same thing happens here.

Keith; play what you want; after I finish with my sword and board; I'll change my story on DA keep; and fire up a new one; mage or rogue....

There is a bug with the 10 dragon achievement. According to some people, they needed to create a new character, kill one more dragon, and then the achievement pops. Not sure why....

I killed all 10 as well and didn't get it either...

Yeah, I just know in certain games a particular class can be hampered by various issues, so wanted to make sure that was not the case before starting here.

I saw a dragon in the Sword Coast but passed it since I was exploring but when I came back it was gone... did I permanently missed that kill?

No- you need to get further along into the game and then you will meet that dragon later on in a new area that opens up next to the storm coast - it is where that dragon actually hangs out.

thanks fro the lists guys- I can confirm I have indeed taken out all those listed dragons, but no perk. NO biggie. although I may have to check again as I did have a Origin cloud storage issue - so I had to reload an older save- I remember having to rekill one dragon, maybe I had taken out 2 -so because of the reload - there is one dragon still alive.

Anybody else had CTD when fighting dragons?..I was fighting the boss one and well twenty minutes into the fight and then CTD,going to change some of the graphic settings and see if that helps.

So far seems only the boss dragon that has had CTD for me at Empire du Lion.

Confirmed no dragons left. The dragon in the Exhaled Plains I cannot find a skull. So, maybe that is the one that is bugged for me and exar333?

Again no biggie- just letting people know so they don't think they messed up. Along with the bug regarding the Lady who owns the mines, and another with the elder elf. I am off to Far Cry 4. I also never found all the malachite or the tapestry items for those quests.

Got to the Emerald Graves, and I must say it's the prettiest map I've seen so far. Looks really good to my graphic whore eyes..

Using Frostbite 3 to make DAI was the best move Bioware could ever have made. They could never have made such an expansive and gorgeous looking game using an in house engine.

It's a shame that some of the stuff that was shown in the pre-release footage was removed though, like the destructibility. I'm guessing they toned it down drastically because of last generation support. Xbox 360 and PS3 are struggling with this game big time from what I hear.

Also, complete seamlessness on each map was another advertised feature that got cut. I can't help but wondering if this is due to an engine limitation, or a design decision for the last gen consoles? Likely the latter if I had to guess..

I also have access to Reaver specialization now. Should I redistribute all of my points and put them mostly into the reaver branch now? Is anyone else playing a reaver?

Oh, and what's the quickest way for me to get hold of a lot of Everite? I'm level 12, currently in the Emerald Graves area, but I'm willing to go to another area. Emerald Graves has some really tough battles, so I think I may be a little below level..

If you access the Western Approach, you can have Leliana farm it for you on the war table missions. That's an easy way, without having to battle, if you are lower-level. Otherwise I found it mostly in Emerald Graves or Emprise Du Lion.

Isn't the dragon bug something to do with the
dragon that pops up from the Mythal thing? Like, isn't that the 11th one and the game doesn't recognize you if you don't get it too?

I don't know the cause, but I thought I got to finish that quest on both play throughs
one of which, I took in the knowledge, and the other I had Morrigan do it, which doesn't have you fight the dragon, if I recall.

Ugh, what a bunch of stupid nonsense. I can't just import my save games now? I have to go through all of these stupid generic choice things in The Keep which do not even have an Elven female mage to choose for my Origins character?

This is not a good start...

You can still choose to import, but you have to do it from the website still, which isn't great. The problem I had with that is I didn't have the games installed anymore, so I wasn't able to figure out which save I wanted to use from the list.

Hmm, yeah, we shall see. I got it to accept something...

I actually tried to go back and finish off some companion quests and other stuff in DA2, but since I completed the main quest, it just removed all of the other quests. :\

I will say, only about 30 minutes into Inquisition, I would trade all of these fancier graphics for some control/mechanics improvements. Very clunky and annoying so far.

Two things.

One, you can import your the names of your Warden from DAO and your Hawk from DA2, if you log in to the Dragon Age Keep with the same Origin account you used to log in to DAO and DA2. And even if you don't, yes, you should still be able to choose an Elven female mage as your DAO character.

Two, the point of this system is that save files from previous games can be buggy. It's often been the case with past BioWare games that save file importing gets details wrong, not because the new game is bugged, but because the way the older game saved the information was bugged. It's often too much of a hassle to go back and patch the old game just to fix one or two save importing bugs. Something like the Dragon Age Keep can still be bugged, but it's much easier to patch.

Also, the benefit of the Keep is that it allows you to take a short 30 minutes or so and create a whole new "world state" so you can try out options without even having played them in DAO or DA2. It also allows you to create world states for characters you may have lost the save files for in the older games.

It's a bit less convenient than just importing a save file. But the benefits to this system outweigh that downside.

I see. Well I guess I just became impatient because I wanted to play the game. In retrospect I should have just gone through that 30 minutes since it probably would have been more entertaining than the game has been so far. FWIW I did click through every option I could in The Keep and was unable to find a female elf card for my choice. I'm sure it does not really matter in the end though.

KT

Edit: ugh, you can't allocate your own attribution points? Not cool.
