LOL. Well, there's your problem. Even the knights died? Wow.
It was an epic slaughter, that's for sure. I thought for sure Ser Perth (is that his name?) would make it, but he got totally railed on at the very end when it was down to Morrigan and him.

Can anybody tell me where I can find Wynn? I want a third mage in my group.

Heh, every single villager in the battle with the undead died. Only morrigan barely survived and just lured the undead mob into the fire over and over until they were dead.

Well, I would guess you didn't do all the quests to get everyone ready for the fight. Even when I did all this, only the knights up top survived, and I ended up having to draw one group of undead at a time from the bottom to the knights up top. That dwarf and his men really helped too.

LOL I killed them too when I encountered him in his house. Man I really made it harder on myself than I had to.

I bet you forgot to get Andraste's blessing on the knights too.

Wynne is where you'd expect a mage to be.

You mean you could actually do that? I tried but she said bullcrap like you can only get that through a lifetime of faith and hard work. I didn't really think it was real.

Placebo effect!

You may need coercion skill to talk her into it though.

yeah you can fool the knights with some trinkets and they don't seem to really care...

I didn't do it though and the knights pulled through just fine. It was the militia side that was a clusterfck. Didn't recruit that elf who might have helped. I wonder if the game glitched a bit because in the first phase the zombies didn't zerg rush like in the second phase.

For how much Liliana sucks, she actually did the most damage of all my characters when fighting the high dragon. I used a Longbow made of Whitewood with ice arrows and she kicked its ass, to the point where she actually pulled aggro off of Alistair who was taunting and my dual-wielding warrior main.

It was hillarious when the dragon died, though, because he had just picked up Liliana to eat her and she was still in his mouth when she was dying. Liliana ended up thrown all over the place because of it. Very funny.

One of the devs has made a hotfix that boosts ranged power considerably. Also, crossbows already use Dex only for damage, but with the hotfix shortbows do too.

With the Redcliffe castle fight: did you remember to open the gate for the knights? Force field the boss until you wipe the archers.

I have the steam version so I'd rather not off things up for an experimental fix.

The elf goes up top with the knights. I think I needed to recruit the fat barkeep to get the rest of the militia liquored up enough to show up at the bottom fight, there was only archers at the bottom.

ahh so that's what the problem was. I didn't even hear about a problem with attendance. guess every little detail matters. I managed to pull through with one party member fallen, but any more mobs I'd have reloaded.

Ok so you guys that have been playing it for a while how good is it? I don't trust review sites any more. I haven't bought it yet as I'm very poor this month and will be next month as well and are restricting myself to just one game.

I'm about 20 hrs into it and it's the best game I've played in years.

Of course it really depends on what you like. If you liked KOTOR and Baldurs Gate then you'll like this.

Pure awesome, if you liked the BG2 thing.

Don't waste your money on Warden's Keep though. Use this if you want persistent storage.

I'll definitely like it then. Probably pick it up the end of this month.

I went and got wynn before the redcliffe part, it made is so much easier to have healing. I recommend that when people have the choice between redcliffe and the mages tower to do the mage tower first. It's also easier IMO

Which fights did you find impossible to win?

the first dragon was very hard for me as my party was not that powerful. the second high dragon during the quest for the "holy grail".... slightly easier.

my party is my mage, alistar, lilian, and wynne the spirit healer <- she makes everything even easier with her group heal and revive

it's neat that they give 3 different romantic interests per gender (2 straight and 1 gay). and you have a chance to have threesome (with no cutscene).

for defending the redcliff village... looks like all the spoilers above gave all the tips to make everything easier. i manage to beat it with no death, it was very difficult for the militia, i had to pause often to get 'aggro' and heal the wounded. the knight up there had a boost because
you can use the oil from the warehouse to make a wall of fire

i like to complete everything and leave no stone unturned. was suprised that they even have two kissing cutscenes in redcliff village. of course, lilian didn't like it.

and yes, i did the mage tower first to get wynne, then completed the redcliff
if you side with mage, you can use the mage's help to avoid killing conner or isode
, holy grail, and i'm doing the dwarfs now.

If you do redcliffe first you still have that choice, or so the game tells me.

I guess on a reroll I would pick a melee fighter with lockpicking(somehow) or a mage with lockpicking
Not possible, unless maybe you use cheats or mod the game using the toolset. By default, only rouges can lockpick.

there is nothing big in locked chests in early levels if you do not have lock picking. it's just a nifty bonus for rogues.
