this is going to be used primarliy for Gameing and Graphics...

was wondering what is the dream combo out "right now" or if you know of a Future Board/CPU that is coming within the next month (May) ?

Details as to "WHY" you believe this is the best combo...(money is not realy a issue)(not that i have a ton just don't want to skimp)

i was also looking at a Dual processor Mobo..only 2 choices i could find were for P3's and Xeons..would there be a advantage of useing a Dual Mobo and CPU?

and while i am asking...lol
what is the difference between RDR and DDR?..i haven't seen a Mobo that specify's running RDR but then read thatit is faster then DDR...but have NEVER seen RDR ...so i am confused on what it realy is ..i know what it stands for thats about it

RDR is short for RDRAM. RDRAM was created by Rambus Corporation and current speed with the 100 MHz Quad pumped FSB is PC600 - PC800. A common misconception is that PC2700 DDR-SDRAM is faster than PC800 RDRAM. Both are named using 2 different naming techniques. PC2700's name states that the maximum possible theoretical bandwith of the RAM is 2.7 GB/s. PC800 RDRAM's name states that its frequency is 800 MHz, but PC800 RDRAM's maximum possible theoretical bandwith is 3.2 GB/s. Personally I prefer RDRAM because in my experience RDRAM outperforms DDR. DDR-SDRAM is only SDRAM operating at twice the speed of standard SDRAM. If your not going to overclock, I think you should get an Intel D850MVL (ATX form factor) or the Intel D850 MDL (Micro-ATX form factor). If you plan on overclocking, most people swear by Asus, they also report the best results by using DDR-SDRAM for overclocking. The people that overclock say that the P4S333 is the best for overclocking. (Don't mark my words on overclocking because personally I use the D850MVL and the Pentium 4 2.0A)

KraziKid, on that P4 motherboard using the Intel 850 chipset, you'll need two identical RDR RIMMs in order to get that theoretical maximum 3.2 GB/s bandwidth. A single PC800 RIMM has a maximum theoretical possible bandwidth is 1.6 GB/s.

Actually, DDR-SDRAM double-pumps the data transfers through it - it transfers data on both the rising and the falling edges of a clock cycle. RDRAM also double-pumps the data transfer, as well. (No wonder why PC800 RDRAM's actual MHz rating is 400MHz.) By contrast, regular SDRAM transfers data only on the rising edge of a clock cycle. DUH!

cr4pz0r, I know that to achieve the maximum theoretical bandwith of 3.2 GB/s you need to install in pairs. I didn't mention that because currently their are no mobo's that support single channel RDRAM on the market. I also know that RDRAM is 400 MHz double-pumped, but RDRAM is its own technology while DDR-SDRAM is based on SDRAM.

A combo that I'm looking at (should be out late May/early June) is the Asus P4T533 with 1066 RDRAM and a Northwood B.

The Intel 850E chipset for the Northwood B will not officially support PC1066 RDRAM at the release. So just make sure that if you get PC1066 that the P4T533 supports it, if it does not support it u wasted a lot of money.

KraziKid,

The Asus P4T533 will support PC1066 Rambus. Check out this link that shows the P4T533 that comes bundled with PC1066 memory.

Wayward, check intel.com they will not officially support PC1066 at the release of the i850E. The certified Intel chipsets will only support PC800 RDRAM. I've been doing research into this and intel does not support PC1066 just as they did not support the VIA chipset for DDR at its release.

KraziKid,

You're right about Intel not officially supporting PC1066 RDRAM. However, that's not stopping a few mobo manufacturers from endorsing PC1066; namely ASUS which is bundling PC1066 RDRAM their with P4T533 motherboard.

YEAH! Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Except, I'll probably par that P4T533 with a 1.6A processor, and O/C it simply by upping the FSB to 533mhz, the PC1066 RAM will be ready for it, as will the 533fsb board. And of course, we all know how O/C-friendly that 1.6A is.

Then later in the year, I'll swap the 1.6A out for a 2.x/3.x-B processor. Cheap setup now, cheap setup then!

that P4T533/RDRAM combo is gonna rock!
