WTF? You wouldn't rather have a 6800ultra instead of GT in SLI???? 2 SATA raptors instead of SCSI? I mean c'mon, you guys have a seriously limited imagination. A seriously nice gaming machine would probably have a RAM DRIVE!

 Yeah, you would have to re-load all of your information every time you turn off your computer. Reel smart...

Yeah I don't like RAM drives personally. It's all about management. Like a Z-06 in an ice storm, what good is all that hp if you cannot put it to work! *ALL STOP*

Think about it.

Im completely pleased by the setup ive chosen, 2 x 6800gts will do everything i need and more.
SATA utilizes less CPU and has better application performance, and in the end it came down to what was available to me at the time

no offense, but you are spending about a $1000-$1500 for only a couple extra % performance gain....kind of a waste IMO

And this is a "dream computer" ie wasteful is a GOOD thing. You sould be scolding him for using GTs instead of Ultras in a "dream" computer. I guess his dream system would entail the 2nd fastest gaming card setup...for whatever reason.

Those who try and "save money" on a dream computer I don't think they're getting the point, although even such a non top notch "dream" system is probably way out of reach for most anyone on these forums so I guess it could still work.

I don't know why, but for some reason I've always wanted to give OS X a spin, so mine could be a dual G5 system with some nice displays (I don't know if I could ever make use of even one 30"...). If I ended up going the x86 route, it'd be pretty obvious what would go in there, but even with all the money to build something like that I'd probably just save money for upgrades.

well my dream computer, i would be able to carry it around in my pocket and have the same processing power as the government's computers that take up entire bunkers (and storage capacity)

you never specified that it had to be real
