Dreamy lunar eclipse aug 28th

i saw this 10 years ago in VietNam. It was noon and my school let us out just to look at it through floppy disk films.

No, solar eclipses are more common. However, because a given solar eclipse can only be viewed from a small fraction of the earth, you are less likely to see one.

From Encyclopaedia Britannica:

"A solar eclipse, especially a total one, can be seen from only a limited part of the Earth, while the eclipsed Moon can be seen at the time of the eclipse wherever the Moon is above the horizon.

In most calendar years there are two lunar eclipses; in some years one or three or none occur. Solar eclipses occur two to five times a year, five being exceptional; there were five in 1935 and will be again in 2206. The average number of total solar eclipses in a century is 66 for the Earth as a whole."

Way too cloudy this morning in Atlanta to see the eclipse. My son was really upset about it. When I told him to wake up so we can go outside to see the lunar eclipse he shot out of bed. Guess I should have checked outside first.

got up at 6 AM this morning (east coast) and i couldn't even see the moon at all. It may have been blocked by the trees though, so i went back to bed for another hour.

i hate those tress because it totally ruins my view of the sky.

i got up at 6:30am but it was too cloudy and red. i couldn't see anything.

it sucks.

It was nice. I set my alarm, woke up in the middle of the night, and watched it from my deck. Gorgeous clear sky. "Dreamy" was the right word for it, I guess.

Of course, now I'm tired as hell this morning...
