The skeptic in me thinks it would be very easy to stall it out. But it sounds like a great idea, especially for drywall.

What am I missing, how would it be useful? If you already have a dremmel, why would you want it powered by the shop vac?

Someone help me understand what this is about, looking at the product page on the lowes site didn't clear it up for me.....

I assume one would choose this because it should be cheaper as it doesn't come with a motor and because "The suction of the vacuum powers the rotary tool and cleans debris at the same time".

First, I don't think it's geared towards people that already have a dremel...?

I'd say it offers a couple of things other dremels don't:

- A very, very cheap way to get a hold of a rotary tool (standalone units start at about $40) to see if it's something that works for you

- As balloonshark stated, there may be some self-cleaning properties to this setup, which is nice. I don't see it providing that much, however, because the suction is pretty far away from the cutting action

- It could potentially be more powerful than a normal dremel, depending on the vacuum attached to it.

That said, I don't know that I'd want the noise of a vacuum every time I want to use the tool. I'll pick one up anyway, haha

If the typical (wet/dry) shop vac is as loud as the one I have, then there is no way I'd use this. You'd have to buy really good ear protection.

That's an interesting idea, I wonder how well it works? Do you need a massive Shop-Vac / dust collector to make enough power?

I usually use the Dremel for precision work - that might be difficult with a stiff shop-vac hose attached to it.

So yeah I know your spamming your vids but I watched the first link and it pretty much sums up what everyone was eluding to in this thread. This thing is way to under powered to do anything useful.

Good job though. You got me to click.

Ya, not my channel, just one I subscribe to.

Well regardless of it's power it would be really handy with that large hose attached. I'm sure it would be great for precision work. Do you sit on the shop vac or have it in your lap? At least it's an improvement of their last Diesel powered model. That one had a Gas Guzzler tax.

I think I'd be frustrated trying to position dremel, especially for precision work, with the huge and unwieldy hose attached to it. However, I do see the automatic debris cleanup appeal when cutting drywall. That alone however is not enough of a reason to buy this though. Interesting idea however, I wonder how it came about and made it all the way to production, I mean what kind of a company would think that this is a good idea and actually make it?
