Harbor freight is a great company... their tools are dirt cheap in price, and quality is pretty good. Just dont expect snap-on quality... DUH!

Ordering stuff tonight, just not a rotary tool, already have 2. they've got a bunch of tools on their last 2 pages of their catalog that are 50% off... including a nice torque wrench.

I bought one of these about a year ago. It has about enough power to do your finger nails, but it does come with a really nice set of bits that made it well worth the price.

Would you say this is the tool to use to cut a side window for a do it yourself case mod?

I just picked one up at the local HFT store. They pricematched the web price of $9.99 even though the store had it for ~$20. The unit will take 9-18 VDC which means that if someone had an 18V power supply, the RPM will probably go up. Unless of course the 16kRPM is @ 18VDC. It wouldn't take much to make a variable voltage power supply and then this unit would be variable speed. The bit package is worth the ten bones, but the drill unit is a bit on the "cheaper" side. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Yellowfiero, I have an *old* Craftsman Dremel-style rotary tool and a B&D cordless and the bits fit both.

This tool would not be suitable to cut through the metal case of a CPU. Mine came with a small, (12v?), wall-wart power supply. I would recommend something with more power. This tool is more for the light hobbiest, but like I said, it does come with a nice bit assortment which is what I bought it for in the first place.

They got a Chicago Rotary Tool on sale at the B&M on sale from $40 to $20 now. Just AC, 4 speeds, up to 2200 rpm. Cut out my speaker holes in the car today to put larger speakers in with it. A Mean machine!

I hope someone can answer my question cause I don't know much about rotary tools. Basically, I need something to cut the side of my case. I was gonna get the Rotomatic before I saw this cause I just need something cheap. Anyone can tell me which one is better? I'll probably keep using it for light use in the house

So what's the concensus ? Is there a free shipping code (with free handling) or not ? I am not interested in buying anything else, but if this tool alone can be had for $10 shipped, I'd like to jump on this right away.

Needless to say that I have spent the last half an hour searching for the free shipping code and didn't find it

12v cordless drill with keyless chuck for $16 down from $46.
1200 Zip ties for $9.99
Cheapest Tap and Die set I have ever seen! only $17 I paid about $170 for a craftsman one of only slightly larger size. Hell, use it once and you already made back your money.

Cummins has a nice tap and die set that is Titanium Nitride coated as well.

Look a few posts up. When this tool is running, I can stop the chuck with my bare fingers.

I also bought one. DEFINITELY NOT A CASE MOD ITEM I can stop it between my fingers while it is running no torque. The bits are probably worth the $$. Very light duty though. My $.02Text

Thanks TheDon. It's that bad huh? I think I'm gonna get it anyway to see how it works on this case

Why do you think Harbor Freight stuff is so cheap?
Because its crap. Complete crap. I wouldn't take it if they were giving it away.
I've only ever gotten a few things there, and I'll never go back (cummins right angle grinder (died on 3rd or 4th use), gear puller (tab broke off), socket set (ratchet broke internally, have broken at least 2 of the sockets)).

And if you're buying it for the bits, make double sure you wear your safety glasses. I expect you'll be blowing chunks off of em pretty quick, especially with a real dremel.
