Dress Code in Texas

I´m going to Frisco, TX(suburban area 25 miles north of Dallas) as a exchange student.
The school I´ll attend to, Centennial High School and I don´t like what I read in the dresscode the have there.
http://www.friscoisd.org/back/dresscode.htm
Look at the Secondary Dress Code:
The following statements serve as guidelines for areas where doubt might prevail:
? ?Sagging pants? are not allowed. Jeans, slacks, shorts, and all other pants must be worn at or about the waist at all times.
? Inappropriate exercise clothing will not be allowed without an appropriate covering garment.
? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.
? Sunglasses, caps, hats, bandanas, and other headwear are not to be brought into the building.
? Hairstyles or unnatural hair colors that, in the judgment of the school principal, cause a disruption of the educational environment are not allowed.
? Clothing should be worn for the purpose for which it was designed. No undergarments or pajamas are to be worn as outerwear. Houseshoes are not permitted.

? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.
This part I dislikes the most.
Most of the European designers make clothing that´s supposed to look torned and worn in.
And holes by the kneecaps is nothing but fashionable.
Would they prohibit me from wearing goodlooking jeans, with kneecapholes?

And what about this:
? Earrings are permissible. All other visible body-piercing jewelry or ornaments are prohibited.

Ain´t I allowed to have a toungepiercing? Will they force me to remove it?

I´m getting a bit worried.
No way I´m giving up my piercing, and I´m used to be able to wear whatever I want. Don´t want to give up my style of clothing either...

I´m getting a bit worried.
Could someone please tell me if the dress code is strict or if they doesn´t really care so much about it at school.

I'm pretty sure that the dress code is strict. But I also didn't go to high school in Texas, let alone in the past 9 yrs (has it been that long??). But I am pretty sure that they would be strict about it. I'll check w/ my bf once he gets back from the Academy today, since he went to school in Richardson, which is actually quite close to Frisco.

Seriously though - this isn't your country - you adapt to the rules of your host and your host country. If you don't like it, don't come to America. It's as simple as that. Those dress codes are pretty much standard across most Dallas area school districts. (I went to one about 15 minutes away from Frisco)

Well, sure I´ll try to adapt, but I thought you´d be at least free enough to be able to wear whatever you want in the States...

Going from very, very liberal Europe(Some parts at least) to conservative Texas is gonna be a shock to your system.

Somebody needs to punch your mother in the mouth for letting you have a tongue piercing in the first place.

Earrings are permissible. All other visible body-piercing jewelry or ornaments are prohibited.

As long as you don't stick your tounge out too much you should be ok, it says All other visable body-piercing ...

Hmmm... looks like your school district is kinda anal about clothing... When I was in H.S., we couldn't wear hats, caps, bandanas but nobody said anything about the way our jeans, shirts, or shoes looked... dunno... our school disctrict didn't care about tongue-piercing.

Depends on the region. Texas can be conservative at times. When I was in school in Ohio, facial piercings were allowed within reason and sagging pants and holes weren't that big of an issue. As long as the dress code wasn't abused nobody seemed to mind - you can sag your pants, but not to the bottom of your ass, that sort of thing.

Pretty much most schools in TX have adoped similar policies.... Im 4 hr drive sounth of Dallas but all the schools around here have similar codes and most of the houston ones do.

This code is slightly more strict that most (none of the schools regulate hair color) but all that other stuff is pretty standard.

why is that interesting? I have never seen a H.S. that allowed sunglasses/hats to be worn inside the building.

Ever since the mid 1990s. Not uniforms, but they place restrictions on stuff like hair color, piercings, saggy pants, some even require shirts that are "too long" to be tucked in.

As for holes in pants, Im sure that a new rule to prevent "excessive exposure of skin" by females.

I'm worried about your reading comprehension. On the other hand, you'll probably fit right in.
