High School?? Hell, figured that was a college.

Ever since the mid 1990s. Not uniforms, but they place restrictions on stuff life hair color, piercings, saggy pants, some even require shirts that are "too long" to be tucked in.

As for holes in pants, Im sure that a new rule to prevent "excessive exposure of skin" by females.

i graduated in 1997 and there wasnt this strict of a dress code where i went to HS.
and all the things you listed were permissable, then.
not sure about my HS's policy now.

Good suggestion, because if he does, one of us Texans will surely knock him upside the head with a lead pipe.

It could be worse: a couple years after I graduated from HS, they implemented a mandatory school uniform policy (public school)...

http://www.friscoisd.org/back/dresscode.htm
Look at the Secondary Dress Code:
The following statements serve as guidelines for areas where doubt might prevail:
? ?Sagging pants? are not allowed. Jeans, slacks, shorts, and all other pants must be worn at or about the waist at all times.
? Inappropriate exercise clothing will not be allowed without an appropriate covering garment.
? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.
? Sunglasses, caps, hats, bandanas, and other headwear are not to be brought into the building.
? Hairstyles or unnatural hair colors that, in the judgment of the school principal, cause a disruption of the educational environment are not allowed.
? Clothing should be worn for the purpose for which it was designed. No undergarments or pajamas are to be worn as outerwear. Houseshoes are not permitted.

? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.
This part I dislikes the most.
Most of the European designers make clothing that´s supposed to look torned and worn in.
And holes by the kneecaps is nothing but fashionable.
Would they prohibit me from wearing goodlooking jeans, with kneecapholes?

And what about this:
? Earrings are permissible. All other visible body-piercing jewelry or ornaments are prohibited.

Ain´t I allowed to have a toungepiercing? Will they force me to remove it?

I´m getting a bit worried.
No way I´m giving up my piercing, and I´m used to be able to wear whatever I want. Don´t want to give up my style of clothing either...

I´m getting a bit worried.
Could someone please tell me if the dress code is strict or if they doesn´t really care so much about it at school.

I'm worried about your reading comprehension. On the other hand, you'll probably fit right in.

Why? I don´t think I´m that bad in speaking/writing/understanding English?
Couldn´t you tell me what I missunderstood in the text instead of posting comments like that?

Just find clothes you like that conform to the dress code. You aren't going to change their minds or be considered special because you aren't from TX. When in Rome do as the Romans...even if you don't like it.

He's just pointing out the bolded text that says "visible body-piercing" and the fact you are worried about your tounge piercing...that really isn't visible.

Well, of course I understand that, that´s why I asked how strict the dress code usually is.´I guess I have to adapt to it.
But it´s just that I´ve been brough up the way and been told so many times that nobody can deside how you should be, how you are to be dressed, and so on. I just got a bit shocked cause I didn´t think they even had dress codes in the States.
I just don´t like beeing told what not to wear, clothes is often used to express political thoughts, what you feel ect. and I don´t like that to be taken from me.

But well, guess I can´t do anything about it.
I´ve paid around 10 000$ to be able to travel to the USA as a exchange student and I won´t let a pointles dress code stop me now.

This I dont really remember being a problem in high school
? Sunglasses, caps, hats, bandanas, and other headwear are not to be brought into the building.
? Hairstyles or unnatural hair colors that, in the judgment of the school principal, cause a disruption of the educational environment are not allowed. This was kinda lax up to a point... i.e. green was not permitted but an unusual shade of red or such was allowed.
? Clothing should be worn for the purpose for which it was designed. No undergarments or pajamas are to be worn as outerwear. Houseshoes are not permitted. I remember girls wearing their pajama bottoms but usually when we only had a half-day of school.

? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.

Would they prohibit me from wearing goodlooking jeans, with kneecapholes? Question should read: WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO WEAR JEANS with kneecap holes?

And what about this:

Wow they are gonna allow guys to wear ear rings this was a no no where I went to school.

I went to school in the Garland ISD District graduated bout 4 years ago. The bolded parts are ones I dont remember.. but Frisco is a kinda high-income area so I imagine they want a nice looking district for possible home-owners...who wants to move into a million dollar house in a community that looks like its from the ghetto?

Well, holes in the kneecaps was really popular in the 80s here. It's somewhat making a comeback, but not super popular or anything.

American and European fashion is very different. Especially somewhere like Texas, they tend to be very conservative there.

Sorry. I was pointing out that it says visible piercings. A tongue piercing shouldn't qualify for that since it's not visible unless you open your mouth.

No problem, I didn´t see the bolded text.

Edit: Hmm, I just read through the Student Handbook.
And according to it, corporal punishment is a way of disciplinary punishment.
Is that even legal in the States?
And seriously, do they really use corporal punishment or is it just some old rule that´s still printed in the handbook but no longer used?
