Does anyone have experience with drive bay reservoirs? Thinking of getting one but I've never seen or heard anyone using them so I'm a bit skeptical.

I don't like drive bay reservoirs and they are known to leak. I will always stick to tube res.

I use 2 of them in my system.

I havent had them leak..
Im using koolance's tho.
I dont know if they still make them, but im sure other vendors do.

The left one is dual D5's and right one is Dual DDC's.

And they typically look like this in the bay:

Those are the 6 pumps i use in my tri loop system.

Have to ask, why 6 pumps and tri loop? And why not update the case ?

i was a control freak when i setup my system.

So i had to have a cpu loop, gpu loop, and a motherboard loop.
Then i am also a redundancy freak... if something went down, i had to have backpus for my backups, hence why i ran 3 loops.
This way i would need to lose a total of 4 pumps before i would need to shelf my system and wait for replacements.

That's nuts. I had a dual pump setup in my old build that I used for redundancy but once I moved to my new case, I just have a dual loop setup with 1 pump for each loop. These mcp655 pumps are so good, I don't see it dying anytime soon and mine have been running since 2013. I got an aquaero 6 pro as well that I programmed to shut down my PC if coolant temps got too high or the flow rate dropped effectively making the use of another pump in the loop useless.

i use a few 5.25" bay reservoirs, two with pump and one without... all XSPC and I've never had any issues. honestly i think the tube res is more prone to leaks depending on how you mount it, since both ends thread on and the seals can fail. the wall thickness of the xspc units and the quality of the threading puts my mind at ease. they are much more durable than most tube res.

Picked up this crazy tri-Titan SLi rig for dirt cheap ($400).
Played around with it for awhile, and the loop seemed to run just fine (2x 240, 1x 480, 5.25" bay res, all Koolance gear)
That said, kinda nuts to have so much rad for cooling just the i7 3960X!

previous owner lost his shirt, pants AND hat on that build lol

you could easily part that out for more than twice what you paid

To be fair, some have more money than common sense. There's a few on this board that setups like that and upgrade every time the latest comes out.

I'd say that's a fair assessment, considering he had 2x 240 + 1x 480 rads in the loop just to cool the 3960X

I got a really good deal on Craigslist 4 years ago from a rich 20 year old kid as well. I picked up a 2600k, GTX 590, 1600w PSU, 16gb ddr3, 512 SSD etc etc for 600 or so. It was a top of the line system back then. I've never seen as good a deal yet but they happen every now and then.

yea i've never gotten that good of a deal, but then again I very rarely let my stuff go for cheap until it's basically irrelevant

sold off my last ASUS HD7970 for 150 earlier today as a matter of fact

To be honest, I never sell my old stuff. I keep it. If I do part with something it's long after it has much value.

I keep certain items (Abit NF7-S and Rampage Formula X48 are displayed with standoffs on my wall) but I have stuff lying around everywhere; if I can't use it semi-regularly I ultimately try to sell it off. I also still have a half gig 4870 and 8800GT AGP card on display as well... representing some of the simpler days of gaming and graphics.

I use a XSPC bayres with D5 pump. Been running for about 2 years without any issues. I would avoid acrylic if possible though...I have had cracking issues (where screws are) with acrylic blocks and one res.
