I went to this last year and had a blast! You get to drive their cars and as long as you don't cause any immediate danger to yourself or those around you, they don't care how you drive. I could explain more, but I will let the website do that for me...

Too bad it's not a real track... that would so rock for $40. But running around in a big parking lot... I do that all the time... it's called autoX and it's cheaper than $40 for a whole day.

I'd prolly do that Drive Center thing though. I gotta drive the new RX8 and see how it matches up against the 350Z and Boxster and Z4 and... they usually let me and other SCCA members go nuts. I think last year's winner was an SCCA autoXer.

It's usually fun to scare the $h1t out of your loved ones since they allow you to have them ride along. Something they can't normally do at most autoXs.

On the (rally type) course that they had laid out last year it would be better to have a Impreza I hope they have a drag section this year. I would put the Z06 against any comparable Mazda on the drag strip anyday. But, a Z06 will never take my old ZX11

I can't access the page from this computer because it needs flash and I don't have access to install the plug-in. Does someone want to post the list of cities it comes to (does it come to Chicago?), and maybe some more info?

Went to the NYC one last year, last stop of the tour, all the cars were beat up like crazy and the people running the entire thing were kind of agitated. It was an okay experience. I went to the Mercedes one (free) a week before the Mazda one and you were pampered like crazy. Much fun...

On the signup page, there's a promo code section. Let's hope they publish one somewhere that we can all use.

I doubt they would get a warm reception in Detroit. hehe. I could imagine what would happen in Flint too.

Most bikes will always eat most cars alive.

That's no comparison.

I just want to know if I'll be able to drive the RX8 and rev it up. Now if it's garanteed that, then I'm in for sure.

The Z06 is NOT just a straight line car. You'd be surprised. Just ask some autocrossers how it does even on a tight "parking lot full of cones" course. Forget about it on a road course. I passed just about everything back in October up at Road America and I'm not even that great of a driver (yet) .

The same can't be said for your poor ZX11 though. I used to have a '94 ZX11D. Very fast in a straight line, but crappy handling. My '98 R1 Yamaha or '96 CBR900RR would've eaten it for lunch at the track.

Wife has an Infiniti G35 Coupe and it's very quick, but not nearly on the same level as the Z06. It feels heavy under extreme cornering even though it feels very nimble and precise just driving it around. The Z06 is the opposite. It feels a little clumsy around town, but man.. Get that thing on the track and you can tell what it was made for.

Haven't driven the RX-8 yet, but I know people that have them and they say that they are fun, but they don't have any torque. Been down that road with Honda VTEC motors. As I grow older, I'm finding that I need more torque.

Sal

I am just going from experience with my friend's Vette (regular LT1). I have heard that it is a great car on most types of tracks, but it definitely wasn't the car for me when I drove it. It takes me a lil' time to get use to a car, that is why I mentioned the Impreza. That is one car I am use to driving .

The funny thing about the RX-8 is that it drives quite different from the RX-7, which drives very different from the RX-6 (IMHO of course). I know they are years apart, but the changes done over the years on that rotary engine is quite amazing. As for the ZX11, being a Sport-Touring bike, I know it couldn't match a Sport bike on a track (apples and oranges-kinda like I did with the Vette and the bike ), but it did handle great compared to other sport-tourers. Also, I could pull some impressive quater-mile times out of it (that is before the Busa came out )

Ohh yeah, and speaking of torque; I am kinda anxious to drive that new 04 GTO. Has anybody driven one yet? I would like to hear other people's opinions on if GM did good replacing the TransAms and Cameros.

Tommyboy8...they didn't have the RX-8 out for test driving last year, but hopefully that changes this year.
