drive order problem

using an intel 875 board and have the ide and sata drives full... the ide was installed first and one became the c:sys drive, the sata was installed later and had another letter and is used to capture video.. recently, I've had problems with a video card and reinstalled windows, however bios now assigns the first sata drive as the c: drive.

I want to use an ide drive for c:sys because the sata drives are big and used for video capture... I use this system to edit professionally... now it has been down for the last 14 hours .. I can't figure out how to change the drive config in bios.. is there a way to get the sata to post after the ide?

Well to get around it as a quick fix.. I unplugged the sata drives, but anyone know of a way to do it in bios?

The system drive can't be reassigned once XP is installed, all the other drives can be reassigned different letters at any time.

Altering the boot order in the bios won't rearrange the drive/letter mappings after XP has been setup.

AFAIK, to make the IDE drive the C: and system drive, you would need to reinstall XP on the IDE drive.

That's what I did... unplug the sata and install xp on the ide, then keeps the order I want.. The sata drives are used to capture video and audio only.
