Veridian, a "mod" here, conducts a poll as to how to needlessly destroy a Gainward 6800Ultra.

Veridian, no one really cares about your infantile hatred of nVidia, and no one over the age of 12 is impressed by your pointless destruction of $400-$500 worth of video card.

If you were a MAN, and didn't want the 6800U, you would auction it off and give the proceeds to:

1. Your local "Empty Stocking" Club. Thumbing your nose at nVidia is more important than $500 worth of toys for kids who don't have much to hope for, isn't it, excuse for person?

2. Local shelter for battered women. Who cares about them when you can light $500 like a coked up rock star?

3. Local group that teaches adults to read. Wouldn't want to help anyone who made some bad choices in life have an actual chance when you can be a snotty punk?

4. Local homeless shelter. $400-$500 is a lot of money to these people, who are slowly starving to death.

Your juvenile antics sicken me. My money is where MY mouth is too- I'll PayPal you $450 instantly for this card if it's an Ultra, which is fair market value.

You can send the money to ATI if you want to thumb your nose at nVidia, but if you were a real MAN, you'd give it to someone less fortunate than yourself.

I say you don't have the BALLS to leave this on your board, because a LOT of people will think like me.

That really is ridiculous. I don't understand where we get our values from. Granted, the philosophy of "give until you're on the same level as those you're giving to" isn't a viable or good one, but I agree with Rollo - in this case instead of destroying it, he could at least put it to some good use. Hell, I'm sure being a hardware head he knows a young gamer out there somewhere who would LOVE to find a 6800U under the tree, used or not...

Sorry, my Nvidia comment was a joke. If i had a X8 lying about i'd have done that however my choice was a GF4 MX, Voodoo 5500 PCI or this. Its just a bit of fun. The main intention isnt what i destroy its what cool stuff you guys can come up with for destroying your own hardware (safely).

If you would have read on you would have seen he is just a guy with too much money/computer parts and is just looking for a cheap laugh.

Nothing against your precious nvidia.

Seriously, they wouldn't get more pleasure out of raffling/selling it to someone who wants it? If they want stuff blown up, they should just go see a movie or something.

Rollo, who and where exactly are you quoting that he wants to destry the card because "its an nvidia card." He doesn't say that in his first post, maybe he does later on. Maybe you were kidding about that part of your post, I'm a little slow. Anyways, it would be a tremendous waste to destroy that card.

I personally agree that it is very wasteful. They should've used an old wrecked card for the destruction, & perhaps donated the card or money from the card

Sigh. This isn't a "nVidia vs. ATI" thing Ronnn. This is a "the guy is acting badly" thing. I'd have jumped on this if he were destroying an X800XT as well?

BTW- did you see in my other thread I've been shopping X800 XTs lately? Neither of my 6800s have VIVO, and I got a Creative Zen media player the other day I want to put movies on.

This is the point entirely.

If he wants to destroy something in a "cool way", he should have picked something that doesn't have much value, like the GF4 MX or V5 he notes that he also has gathering dust.

I'd send him an obsolete card (GF2) to destroy if he thinks it's "fun" to destroy video cards.

Throwing away $400-$500, especially this time of year when 1000s of kids are going to wake up without Christmas presents, is just wrong.

I give to my local "Empty Stocking" group, am trying to set up an employer sponsored donation at my work, I urge all of you here to do the same.
