I'm getting Windows 7 and I'm doing a clean install. I'm not very good with drivers though and need some help.

where do I get the drivers for the rampage formula motherboard? what are the crossfireX application profiles and do I need it? (2 radeon 4870x2s in crossfire)? what drivers do I need other than chipset and video card? I also got the sound driver from ASUS.

what are the generic windows drivers? chipset drivers? I don't get how there can be no drivers for it... I thought Rampage Formula was a pretty well received board and it definitely isn't that outdated. Windows 7 has been out for months... wtf?

Just install 64bit OS on board. windows will go to monkey soft for certified MS drivers and will install what you need. All in all, you really only need a 64 bit video card driver( that is if you want to improve your display settings) to get started. windows will do the rest. - You won't need to worry about the chipset/mobo driver.

I still need help on this topic

I'll go ouy on a limb here and say you haven't installed win 7 yet, The fact that the site Matan Eldan sent you to has "no new drivers" means nothing. Win 7 has them all, whenever OS's don't and often when they do need drivers you will find them at asus support before a third party site.
Load win 7 then after you find a problem start the worry. I've put win 7 ultimate and home premium on many Asus boards including personal boxes including my sig rig, a 6 year old P4 box and netbook. As larslake said, vid driver and your good to go but often you don't even need that, my netbook and P4 as they are "office" machines and lightweights, (hardware handicapped!) I prefer to keep the software to a minimum.

ok now about installation. I have 2 hard drives. 1 has my windows and everything else on it, the other is just torrents and I won't need to reformat. can I just move all the drivers to that hard drive then reformat and pull the drivers from the other hard drive onto my main and install them?

also I still don't know what app profiles for crossfirex is and do I need it?

The drive you're going to install Win7 onto:
If you don't reformat, your old OS will still be there. After you install Win7, on each boot up you will get a menu that lets you choose either Win7 or your old OS to bootup.
If you reformat, your old OS will go to bit heaven.

You can put the drivers (I assume you mean the files you downloaded, which are actually driver installation files that contain the drivers and the installation programs to install them) any where you like...another drive, a CD, a DVD, a thumb drive, what ever you want.

The crossfire profiles are kind of like setup files for specific games/programs that optimize crossfire or those specific games/programs.

so I installed windows 7 without the motherboard drivers. I installed video drivers, network drivers, sound drivers, and mouse drivers (weird razor driver). I enabled crossfire in catalyst but when I go to ATI Overdrive in the catalyst menu I can only see 1 card in the drop down menu. I only see ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 [ BenQ G2400W ].

what do I do about the motherboard driver I don't have? why can't I see my other 4870x2 on the overdrive menu?
