Drives Not Found?!

Friday night I am playing Rise of Nations before I go to bed. Saturday I woke up and left town, never turned on my computer. I came back Sunday night, and this is when the problem starts...

I went to burn a cd (in Windows Media Player) and it said that it couldn't find a device. I thought "all right, so my CD-RW isn't working." I take the system apart, and no problems. Today, I wanted to play a game. I put it in the CD drive and, "CD cannot be found" comes up. I go into My Computer and neither of the drives are listed. I think "all right, it has to be the cable." I take the computer apart again and try a different cable. Same thing. Now I have no clue what is going on, but I really want to play RON...and burn my cd for that matter, so, please help.

Is your cd on the secondary controller or the primary. You also did not mention If you had dual cdroms.

Assuming you are running two cd drives on the same channel the following may help ya
in your dilema.

Try removing your drives from the device manager and rebooting the system.
If they reload try your game and your burn. If they do not reload then disconnect the
drives one at a time and see if they reload and function by themselves.

If the drives are on their own channel try the drives one at a time on your primary channel.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

It worked.

On Sunday I got tired of the message coming up every time I turned on my computer that says something about the software that is in conflict with the system. So I deleted the files. I didn't think it would have anything to do with the problem, though.
