I'm teaching someone how to drive, and honestly, I don't remember all precise rules that the dmv officer will want (a lot of people probably dont obey them anyways once they get their license). I"m looking at the drivers license manual and it does not really tell you.

questions:

1. when approaching a stop sign, when should you start putting on your turn signals to make a turn (how many feet or yards)?
2. I'm sure the officer will tell my friend to stop abruptly in the middle of the road and start to reverse. Does she need to turn on her hazard lights? turn on any lights?
3. when asked to do a parallel parking maneuver, she is supposed to turn on her blinker. Does she do it as she approaches the vehicle next to her, or does she do it when she starts to reverse?

finally, any parallel parking tips? Do you guys have any specific guidelines besides just eyeballing it?

What state is this?

Heh in Texas the cop didn't ask me to do any of those things - just to make sure you use your mirrors, stop completely, and uh some other stuff I forgot.

1. Look in your state's driving manual from their website.
2. Reverse why? Do you mean for a 3 point turn? No I don't believe you need to turn on hazards to do it.
3. I think turn it on as you approach the vehicle in front.

For parallel parking what helps me is just to visualize aiming the back end of the car into the corner near the curb. I suck at it though because I'm always afraid of getting too close and scratching my rims and I end up too far away from the curb.

1. My instructor said one to two lamp posts away. I'd just do it within the same block, so they can't say you signaled early, and confused the dude behind you thinking that you were turning into the laneway/street you just passed.

2. Who the hell stops in the middle of a road and reverses?

3. Approaching.

1.) His hand should go on her leg as soon as the stop sign is visible and casually ride up as it gets closer.

2.) Her "high beams" should be on and always be careful when switching positions mid-ride.

3.)Her top should come off as she approaches and she can unzip the blinker at any point the dmv officer asks.
