Driving on two bolts/lug nuts on my right front wheel. Is it safe?

As I was changing the wheel, the bolt broke along with the pin. This was the second pin to break. The first one was right next to it. The car is a Toyota Duet EJ79 2003 model. It has four bolts when all of them are there on size 13s. I drove it back home which is about 5 Kilometres. I used it this morning to work about two kilometres from home and at lunch about 5km away. Then I will be driving home today after work. What kind of dangers am I putting myself in as I can not park it until I get it fixed probably two days time. Thanx.

Depending on the design of the wheel and the lug nuts, they may be used to center the wheel to the hub, so you could be risking a lot more damage by being out of balance. Since the wheel doesn't actually have torque transmitted through the bolts, they are only serving to keep it in place.

Preferably these would be on a wheel in the back so they're kept straight rather than turned.

Probably pretty low risk, but high potential for significant damage if you lose the wheel.

No, it's fine. I'd remove 1 to have a spare. You'll be fine with 1 as it is going to hold the rim.

If your car was a citroen you could simply remove the wheel and then let the car's suspension level the car on the other 3 wheels. However, with a toyota, you need all 4 tires. Do not drive it until you fix it.

Otherwise, when the wheel comes off of the car, it will crash into something or some one. And, car will collapse to pavement and will spin out of control and you will be upside down and wake up in hospital.

Seriously 2km? Walk, jog, cycle, rollerblade, hop, skip, jump, or skateboard, and bring lunch with you.

Depending on the lug and hub design, this could be DIY for $5, in 15 minutes or 20 if you have to take the hub off. You might only need a chisel, hammer, tire iron, breaker bar and ratchet with hub nut and bolt sockets, and of course a jack and jack stand.

Thanx Bartman39. I managed to change them today

Glad you're still with us. I managed to lose a tire once while driving because the lug nuts were loose, thankfully I was going over a speed bump and only going around 10mph. I still came to a jarring halt and don't recommend it.
