Driving question for NYC experts

I know nothing about NYC traffic on a Saturday and with a manual transmission car I want to avoid as much traffic as possible.

Were going to my Brother in-law's place which is almost at the foot of the Triborough bridge (or whatever it's called now.)

Google maps says to take rt17 the 4 to the George Washington Bridge, then the FDR to the Triborough.

Another choice is the Thruway/Major Deegan to the Triborough.

Or the Pallisades Interstate Pkwy to the GWB to the FDR to the Triborough?


What's the least jammed up route to go?

I drive down on Friday nights and usually hit Manhattan by 9PM. I always take the Palisades route and it's never congested.

theres yankee game going on today, so you want to avoid the deegan as much as possible.. i would stick to palisades>FDR> RFK bridge (aka triborough)... if you really want to avoid traffic, take the metro-north into grand-central, then take the subway to queens..

my advice is to take the tappan zee bridge to the triborough

likely he already made the trip. if not then my advise is just to roll a dice. they will all be jammed up.

you can take 17 --> 4 but there usually is traffic around the GS Plaza area.

I live in Astoria, tappen zee to triborough/rfk is the simplest way. The bridges are not that expecsive to cross, tap is 4.50(one way) and the triborough/rfk is $5.50(both ways). Any way you go you want to get go over triborough/rfk and get off the at astoria blvd exit.

Saturday should not be to bad, you just want to make sure the Yankees/Mets are not starting or finishing around that time.

if you ask me, palisades. but yes cops in the NJ section so watch out.
also watch for women driving in the wrong direction. before you say i'm making a tasteless joke, read this: Text
