Driving: What irks you?

As I get older I realize that it is silly to get mad at every single idiot driver out there. Not doing any good for any of us. However there are a few things that, shall we say, illicit a 'WTF?':

1. Turn Lane Squatting at a horribly long light (turn signal light that is). Basically, they just breeze through when the light turns red while the line of traffic behind them (who would normally squeeze close together) have to wait another time.

2. 3 lanes - 1 each direction, 1 turn. Not using the turn lane to, well, turn. Holds up all traffic because they can't get in, or still take up the turning lane AND the driving lane.

3. Driving next to others (slow) so nobody can get by. Man created 4 lanes so that people don't need to be held up by one slow car. Nuff said.

4. Bicycles. If you share the road then follow the rules. No rushing red lights, etc (WAY before they are due to turn). And honestly, if it's in the middle of rush hour and you're holding up a whole lane of traffic because they can't pass, then move.

Your list?

When you're driving down a road and no one is behind you and a car pulls out in front of you and drives slow. That's my big one. Also, on a four lane road, when there's a slow car in front of you and an equally slow car in the passing lane right next to it preventing anyone from moving past.

Slow drivers in the left lane. 'nuff said. Also, if I'm clearly bombing down a 2-lane at a good pace, and you're waiting at an intersection to turn into my lane in your Geo Metro, maybe you could do me the favor of waiting for THREE MORE SECONDS for me to pass, instead of pulling out in front of me and proceeding to go 10 under for the next 15 no-passing-zone miles?

Not signaling, ESPECIALLY when turning left without a green arrow. You're cruising up to the intersection, hoping the light doesn't turn red, and suddenly the guy in front of you hits the brakes and COMES TO A STOP, and sits there WAITING before finally turning. Of course the light is red by then. If you are lucky enough to have a second lane to your right, you can't use it by then because all the traffic behind you is going into the right lane and cutting you off!

People who run reds
People who change lanes in intersections
People who come out of a parking lot and want in the line instead of making a right hand turn then a U turn.
People who have reaction times of slothes when the light turns green (~80% of the population)
Cops who dont pull over people doing such blatant voliations
People who dont use the turning lane (when making a left onto a side street or making a left onto a busy street)
Slow drivers
People who dont merge when they are given at least 1/4 mile warning of the lane ending
People who dont know how to merge (90% of californians)

I'm pretty sure I live in the red-light-running capital of America. It's USUALLY people who try to speed up to go through a yellow but still miss the yellow by about 10 seconds and blow through the red, but sometimes (b/c the lights are crappy) people get tired of waiting and just go (even at busy intersections). When I moved here I learned VERY quickly that you always wait 5-10 seconds after the light turns green before you go so that you don't get t-boned. So, yeah, I hate red light runners.

I also hate people that ride up your butt. Not the normal jerks, but the ones where I'm following someone in the fast lane. Fast lane speeds are maybe at the speed limit, not above. I drive a Corolla, so it's easy to see around and over me. 'Butt-rider' will pull up and be a complete jerk. The prototypical butt-rider tries every trick in the book to get around me in the slow lanes, just so they can swerve dangerously back into the fast lane, cutting me off. And guess what? They're still going the EXACT SAME SPEED because I wasn't the one holding up traffic. EVERYONE is going slow. So butt-rider was such an asshat so he could get ONE spot farther up in line.

Usually when I identify a butt-rider about to make a break for the pass, I speed up and ride the car in front of me for a second just to cut butt-rider off and prevent him from swerving in. I love pissing them off.

I can't stand people who stop at the toll lane in the ez-pass lane.

Once I saw someone stop, and a truck slammed into them and pushed them through

People who stop at a merge that has a mile of merge room.

- failure to use turn signals properly
- driving below the speed limit in the left lane
- people who don't know how to merge
- people who do not plan where they're going
- people who slow down to 10mph under the speed limit to pass a cop on the side of the road

1. Landscaping trucks - every single one drives 10mph under
2. Drivers who ride the shoulder to pass up everyone else
3. Drivers who change lanes for no reason (driving slow and no traffic in front of them).
4. Left lane huggers
5. Rubberneckers

People who "jump the queue" at 4-way stops i.e. they butt in before it's their turn
People who blast through 4-way stops without even slowing down Q I have seen this)
People who drive 60km/h+ on residential streets (dangerous!)
People who merge well below the posted highway speed
Inattentive drivers (drifting in lanes, using cell phones, etc.)
Single-occupant SUVs

People who honk to get the person in front of them to turn right on red when it's clearly not safe to do so.

People who just have to go that tiny bit faster than everyone else, so they keep moving over to pass then cut back in, one car at a time. A whole string of cars can be moving along steadily, then when one of these clowns show up it's back to brake-gas-brake-gas because they screw up the safe distance between cars.

There's a ramp I use going home from work which is two lanes that narrow to one. The speed limit is 50, merging onto another highway where the limit is also 50. After it becomes a single lane, it joins the other highway in its own lane. Every day it's the same thing... cars spaced out nicely in both lanes, doing about 55, with 1/4 mile to go to the merge point.... But instead of merging early so everyone can maintain their speed, the cars in the lane which is ending just keep driving all the way to the merge point so BOTH lanes have to slow down to 20 while people merge at the point of no return. Insanity.

Try driving in Vietnam and then I think you'll be done complaining about traffic here.

Not using turn signals when switching lanes. Witness and been in close accidents because idiots fail to use turn signals.

If I was a cop, I'll pull your ass over and become a will be a jerk and a dick on you.

Tailgaters should die painfully, especially going up and down hills at night, in their SUV's with incorrectly aimed headlights.

1.) Tailgaters (biggest pet peeve by far, especially at night)
2.) Pulling out in front of me instead of waiting a few seconds for me to pass (and there's no one behind me, of course)

Hmmm... that's mainly it.
