People who don't slow the hell down, or people who tailgate, when the roads are covered with snow.

When I need to change lanes I signal and then the asshat in the other lane decides that is the go ahead to step on the gas and not allow me to move over. Its like they are thinking-"omg he will then be in front of me, I cant have that. Lets speed up so he cant move over."

everyone who drives faster than me=MANIAC
everyone who drives slower than me=IDIOT

I really didn't want to hijack this thread but the bicycle bashing is too much. All the stuff you cite is pretty bad, but to generalize like you have is absurd. Also, I believe the trend is going to be toward the Idaho doctrine with respect to cyclist and traffic signs: for bicyclists in Idaho, stop sign = yield sign, red light = stop sign, which is about how most practical cyclist smarter than a cockroach interpret them anyway just about everywhere (including myself). You know what kind of cyclists drive me nuts? Wrong way cyclists. That's about as stupid as it gets. There are cases where it's practical to go the wrong way on a mostly empty street for a block or so but beyond that it's extremely dangerous.

As for "holding up traffic", you're right: IIRC, some laws are written to the effect of "if X number of vehicles are impeded by a slow moving vehicle, the slow moving vehicle needs to get out of the way." Keep in mind, though, if the road is too narrow for a car to safely pass a cyclist, there's probably nowhere for the cyclist to go to get out of the way.

No I'm not actually advocating murder. No one understands sarcasm anymore. But, and I think this is completely unintentional on your part, you have 100 percent proved my point about bicyclists. I don't know you, you seem like you might be a normal person, but as soon as you're talking from the perspective of a bicyclist, the rules stop applying to you. Stop = yield? Red light = stop sign? Not in Oregon. If there's a stop sign you are supposed to stop for it. I don't have a problem with a rolling stop, either, because it's a pain in the ass to put your foot down on a bike (especially if you have a nice bike where you lock your feet into the pedals). But I see bicyclists literally every day that go through stop signs without stopping. I may have the right of way, but they'll tear in front of me, and I'm expected to slam on my brakes to keep from killing them. They think, "Oh, I have plenty of time before he gets here," but what if they hit that tree branch and fall and I hit them as they ragdoll through the intersection? You know what happens? My insurance skyrockets, and I'll probably face some sort of fine, not to mention having to pay to get my car fixed... oh, and having someone's death on my hands for the rest of my life for something that is entirely not my fault. That is some fucked up bullshit to put someone through and I am sick and tired of bicyclists acting like they are entitled to do whatever the hell they want because they aren't polluting. If you aren't going to respect the rules of the road, you have no business on it, whether you're a motorist, a bicyclist or a pedestrian. We have laws for a reason, and no one is above them.

- the yahoos that don't brush the snow and ice off of the top of their car and then get on the highway and the snow and ice flies off the car and impairs the vision of other drivers
- large sheets off ice falling off of transport trucks on the highway
- people who tailgate me when I AM DRIVING IN THE SLOW LANE... GO AROUND ME, I'm doing the speed limit and I am in the appropriate lane.
- people who do not follow the rule of thumb: if someone passes you on the right, you're in the wrong lane

Freakin' 30-mile-per-hour winds blowing fresh snow all over and making ice slicks in the most innocent places so that cars are flying off the road every which way somewhat annoys me.

People who come to a complete stop to make a left turn in the middle of a road. No, there is no left turn lane. I mean they just stop to make a left in the middle of a road. It would be fine if say, we were in a city doing 15 or 20 or some shit, but we're doing 50-60mph. Even better: usually they put on their turn signal after they come to a complete stop. So I have to wait a long time for something that the person shouldn't be doing in the first place.

Probably the only thing I hate worse than this is what happens because of the above. Fran stops to make a left in the middle of a road where sucky Floridian drivers are going 50-60. Bill can see what is about to happen, but instead of putting turn signals or stopping, he speeds up to pass in front of the car on his right. I have no idea what is going on until Bill swerves to the right and I see a small car of death at a complete stop in front of me. I am still going 55. Shit.

It happens way more than I would like it to. Thankfully, my car is big so I can see it coming sometimes...other times someone is driving a hummer with super-tinted windows and feels like sucking that day.

People that flood the intersection when their light turns red, making us people trying to turn left wait.

Toyota drivers. They are either totally clueless to driving, slow pokes, or they are Taco driving douche bags.

Yeah, this really pisses me off. How has it become that the right lane is now the faster lane??? Yes, we are breaking the law by passing on the right, but impeding traffic now in Toronto is a bigger fine.

Agree with everyone here except there is a very bad habit I found myself doing which I'm going to consciously stop. Slow left lane huggers in front of me will keep seeing my car come up to theirs and I stay on their ass for them to move or go faster (this really happens if they're going 10 below the limit, which is more often than you think).

I know, it's dangerous, and I should stop following the examples of the NJ State Police in that regard.

Generally speaking, any problems with traffic here pales in comparison to major cities in Asia, where single left turn lanes can somehow turn in to three left turn lanes as each car tries to pass each other while simultaneously making a left turn or changing a four lane highway into a 6 lane highway during rush hour etc.

That being said, my biggest pet peeve are those holier than thou jackasses who can't get off their crackberries at a light and hold up traffic when it turns green.

While slight unrelated, I saw this bumper sticker at my school's parking lot the other day that just cracked me up.
The sticker read:
"Keep Honking, I'm Reloading"

While I agree with you, I make an exception when I'm already going 80 MPH and you're still riding my ass, you can pass from the right all day long and I won't give a rat's ass. Since when was it legal to be going 85-100 MPH and expecting everyone to get the hell out of your way?

Heh, since I drive a lot for work I have many many pet peeves. I will tone it down to a couple

1. People who do not move over into the other lane for people merging when there is room.
2. The left lane is not for slow vehicles. EVER
3. People who stop like there is a stop sign but there isn't and vise versa
4. People who block intersections because they just HAD to get through that light and now no one can go

The next ones happen more when I am driving our big, logo-ed truck.
5. People who assume that since I am a truck that I A) am going super slow and B) can stop on a dime so they pull out in front of me and cut me off. This amazes me since I will definitely get the better of any accident I am in
6. People who go slow sudden see me passing them and say to themselves "Hey, if that truck is passing me I am going too slow. Lets speed up and keep pace with him" -or worse- lets speed up then slow down then speed back up when he gets close and then slow down again

As for tailgaters, well, I get paid by the hour and there is this little 'decrease' button for the cruise control that comes in handy

Drivers who block the left most lane of an interstate and don't move to the right after passing! Its the freaking PASSING lane people!! Stop driving at speed limit on the left lane!

You'd still get ticketed for that here, so basically ever since the "Move right for oncoming traffic" law was passed, it was legal. Heard it myself. Of course, he'll likely get ticketed, but you're still committing a violation.

People who think that merge means "get the fuck out of my way, I'm getting on the road," not "yield to oncoming traffic."

When people stop in the right lane at an intersection (red light) when the left lane is empty. Sure, it's not dedicated to turning right, but would you let me turn, please? This happens almost every day to me, at the exact same light.

I do this myself sometimes, never dangerously, but in the last week I have seen two people just take off when the light was still red because they thought it would go green (timed lights at weird intersections; people think that when crosstraffic has a red, they'll immediately get the green, but that's not always the case... fucking idiots).

Bicyclists. I don't know if there's a single decent one out there. My friends, hell even my brother, ride bikes, and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. But there's something about hopping on a bike that would turn Mother Teresa into Hitler. Bicyclists obey exactly zero traffic laws, switching lanes at will, ignoring stop signs or traffic lights, riding on the sidewalk then hopping into the street at will... you're either a pedestrian or a vehicle goddammit, make up your fucking mind and stick with it. And FYI, neither gives you the right to just go whenever you feel like it regardless of stop signs or traffic lights. If you want to put other people at risk because your jackass can't be bothered to stop for a light and some car has to swerve to avoid hitting you... fuck it, I'm not even trying any more. I dare you to try that shit with me. I will hit you, back over you, and dispose of your body in a way that's completely untraceable. I am so fed up with these goddamn bicyclists. YOU DON'T GET TO DO WHATEVER YOU WANT JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE GREEN. You know what else is green? The Incredible Hulk. He would totally crush you if he saw you doing that shit. Fucktards.

People who are looking for an address, so they flip on their turn signal, and leave it on for approximately 2 miles. In the era of Google maps and GPS, this is unacceptable.

OMFG that is gold!

For me, it's the idiots who are decide they need to make a left but do so at the last second so their car is now stopped crooked in the left turn lane and the ass of their car is sticking out and blocking the only lane that is going forward while waiting to make their damn turn.

Agreed. That really bugs me too. For example, runabouts.

Oh god, people in Colorado Springs craped their pants when a two lane roundabout was put in at new center point. They have big signs that show you what lane to be in and even painted arrows on the pavement, and STILL people screw it up! And God forbid they should use their damn blinker and look to see if they are going to cut someone off exiting the roundabout!

Then the people that haul ass down the main street, stop at a red light and take their sweet time getting up to speed when it turns green; this includes protected left turns.

Tailgaters are a given, I have so many ideas for mad max type stuff that I would LOVE to do to my car. However, I know no good will come of it.

And last I HATE people that merge onto the interstate going 55-60 in a 75 when people are doing 80-85. But I hate it more when I get stuck behind them also trying to merge, it makes merging so much more fun when an 18 wheeler can't move out of the way and I have to slam on my breaks because the moron in front of me realizes he can't merge.

Then once they do get on the highway, they still don't understand they need to move it! I end up down shifting and passing them just so I can go 75.

If you get passed by a Suzuki, YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

I think there is something about roundabouts that make people forget everything they know about driving and assume 'every vehicle for themselves'
