Driving without Shoes

Sometimes I can't believe the threads that I read. Most of them are about cold weather and crap; this is one of them. Granted, I work in an office now, but as soon as I'm home i'm in board shorts and sandals. My entire weekend is board shorts and sandals. If I'm at the beach, which is at least 2 times a week, then its no sandals. Are people really freaked out about driving without shoes on as in they don't feel safe? That's got to be top 10 dumbest things I've ever heard. My favorite was the one about skinny gas pedals. The floor of my truck is sandy as hell and half the time you won't find me with a shirt or sandals on while I'm going somewhere.

You guys are all really wierd.

um... read your own link. seems to me that it isn't illegal in ANY states.

there are a few that recommend footwear, but do not require it.

good thing too, if it was illegal it would piss me off. we don't need anymore idiotic, useless laws.

I don't drive barefoot. I think about all the crap I've walked in with my shoes, and I wouldn't want my bare feet touching those pedals.

I only do it after swimming at the beach. I've had friends tell me driving barefoot was illegal, and I really doubted it, and after looking at a couple places on the Internet it looks like it is not (at least for Michigan).

I swear I remember hearing in driver's ed that barefoot was okay, but flip-flops were not because you could get the pedal stuck between your foot and flip-flop. I suppose it could happen.

I do it on occasion. I find that I'm smoother as I can modulate the clutch easier. However it's harder to heel-toe with out my shoes on, don't have the extra width the shoes provide.

Do it all of the time, I think I shift better when I'm driving without sandals/shoes. Plus it's great on long trips.
