Incredible over Fascinate at this point? Bizarre.

I know I don't own a Fascinate, I own a Droid 1. But I literally would pay HTC $99 bucks if they released a pack with all of their apps and widgets that was compatible with my phone. If I could have gotten any Android phone for the same price as my Droid 1 I would have gotten an Incredible.

LauncherPro Plus has a many of the HTC widgets and then you can get the clock/weather in the Market.

I bought LPP, it has a few that look similar, but they don't act the same. And it's missing some of the cooler ones like the email widget. I don't really even like the flip clock HTC has. Aside from that the HTC reworked contacts/dialer/music apps are killer. I cannot find comparable replacement apps for any in the Market. I have been reduced to running a hacked Sense rom that's still very beta. oh well lol.

The music one of the one I want the most. It's pretty cool.

I've been wondering the same thing, except my contract has been up for... a year. I'm using an LG 8300 (!) with an extended battery and just love charging once a week or less. None of my friends ever have a working phone; their pre's and iphones are ALWAYS 'dead'.

But still I can get an employee discount now through work and have been thinking about jumping on the smart phone bandwagon for months but really want to wait until dual core phones come out.

Its a long wait though...

Yeah, it's a totally different battery paradigm. Mostly because there's not a whole lot to do with old-school dumbphones.

Anyway, while you wait for the next leap in tech why not Craigslist a Droid 1 or the like? You won't get contract-locked that way.

True, don't know if its worth ~$175 though... I guess I could always get some money back for it later on.

verizon is going to have lte out in most major cities by the end of this year and that will undoubtedly require a faster chip than 1 ghz, so i would hold off

I disagree, I have bought probably 2 dozen phones on CL, and I've never had one that had a bad ESN. Maybe I'm just extra lucky, but never having to skip out on buying a phone because of it being stolen seems pretty good to me. I'm not saying there aren't stolen phones on there, but it's not even close to a majority. And a lot of the bad ESN listed phones on there are due to the person not paying the bill. Those phones get cycled out after a certain number of months and the ESN becomes clean again.

You can (and should) call Verizon to check the ESN/do the transfer before closing the deal.

I bought an Incredible tonight to play around with. Rooted, installed MIUI...color me impressed. Very slick without Sense or an app drawer.

Just got an incredible a couple of weeks ago. I love it. The big selling point for me is HTC's somewhat lax stance on modding, so it was all very easy to root, install Cyanogenmod, and play with the firmware. The DINC has a great modding community as well.

I had the opportunity to play with my friend's Samsung Fascinate today and to be honest it really made me appreciate my DI much more...

His phone looks beautiful, but the phone is having problems keeping a reliable GPS lock, google search is BLOCKED in the Market because VZW cut a deal with MS to have Bing preinstalled (can't uninstall or make Google the long-press search default), I was getting 5-10db poorer reception in the same exact area for over an hour (verified with Real Signal app), and only 75% of the upstream performance compared to the DI (verified with SpeedTest app).
