Its not. All of my friends fight over chargers all day.

That says nothing about battery life. For all you know they could have not charged for days or used their phone for 8 hours straight.

If its anything remotely like the Droid Razr i will steer clear. My razr is such a POS. Battery dies in a day with me not even touching it, rarely if ever goes on 4glte and the screen is all scratched to hell even tho it is in the same backpack with my sgs3, iphone4 and sgs2 yet none of them are sratched at all.

Its similar to my GN. If I play with it for hours its low too or I can leave it with the screen off for a few days and its still good.

There's two variables there.

1. Most iPhone users don't do anything different to their phone such as jailbreaking. Regardless, the software itself knows how to handle power and the iPhone can last on WiFi/3G for over a week or so without any use.

2. You're on a tech forum, and thus, I believe you have ROMmed your phone which can cause a substantial increase in battery.

I'd argue that HTC has shitty build quality in general despite using good materials. Samsung has pretty good build quality. The SGS2 is quite durable. It *feels* cheap which is another issue which I'd like for them to rectify. Motorola phones are heavier but do come with quality and have good reception.

Samsung phones feel cheap and typically have a lot of attenuation issues (iPhone death grip). The SGS1, 2, Nexus S have huge grip issues. Every phone does but it's not very noticeable on my Motorola Milestone.

With that said I don't like the soft keys of the phone. But given they're under Google now, I can see why. I hope HTC and Samsung hold strong and continue to roll out hardware keys.

Furthermore, until Motorola comes out with unlockable bootloaders and won't bow to the carriers as easily, and embraces the modding community and provides timely updates, and becomes a major player again in the mobile market. I don't really care. Once again they're being spoon fed by Verizon with exclusive phones. While that's cool for the US market and all, you can tell that HTC and Samsung's strategies are to release unlocked global phones first because that's the TRUE market, and then work with the US carriers for their bastardized versions. Instead Motorola launches Verizon gimped phones and then tries to push the gimped phones worldwide. You can tell why no one gives a flying crap about Moto phones since the Milestone 1 fiasco.

i think i agree. once again motorola releases 6 month old phones. by the time this phone is out around christmas, everyone else will be on faster chips or quad cores. i would trade my sg3 for razr maxx hd however

I'm expecting most if not all future Moto phones to work with this bootloader unlocking tool. Almost certainly Google's doing.

I'm sure the Verizon ones won't.
Otherwise, why will Motorola announce that they are releasing developer editions of their phone if an unlock tool can easily be used?

~12% on Wifi or 3G? 3G drains far more. And without any use means you probably don't sync anything. I left my phone in the car for 18 hours once and it drained far more than 12%. Honestly, putting an iPhone 4S and SGS2 side by side syncing the same stuff, the iPhone 4S wins by far.

Sorry about the light, at 6 in the morning its pretty much just the overhead kitchen bulbs or nothing.

I wish I'd kept my Droid for comparison. That battery was exactly HALF the size.

The only thing I sync is my Google account(Gmail, etc...)
I don't go out of my way to "disable" sync on many things either.

I don't have a Facebook account, therefore there is nothing to sync.
I don't have a Twitter account, therefore there is nothing to sync.
I'm not one of those that installs Facebook or Twitter and disables sync. I don't use any of those things period, therefore there is nothing to enable or disable.

Dropbox syncs over Wifi only.
I only take on average 3 pictures a month with my phone and at least 2 out of those 3 pictures are screen captures, therefore there is nothing to sync.

Impossible to compare unless you are on the same carrier and live in the same neighbourhood. He could be getting a lot better reception wich makes a world of difference when it comes to battery drain

My only real concern on the dlx is that the one-x uses a rather small battery; but I too am keeping my eye on this device.

The razr hd is ok I guess but not enough of a jump over my current phone to warrant an upgrade.

The gs3 has a custom 3.8v battery and charges higher than a reg 2100mah would.

I can hit 4.4 volts fully charged and get 4+ hours of screentime using 4g and no WiFi

Looking at the stats when I got home, I had 4 hours of talk time, 6 hours of screen time, about 20 minutes of nav, 4G/wifi on anytime I was on the ground wifi on a little in air, battery was still at 50% when I went to bed, after being off the charger for about 18 hours.

First time in years, even pre-smartphone days that I never had to worry about finding a plug in at the airport or if my row on the aircraft would have a power port.

That does sound pretty amazing to be honest with you. I can't wait till all phones are powered like that. I wish more people purchased the RAZR MAXX and took market share from other companies that way they can start innovating and providing their own amazing battery solution. >_<

Agreed. Motorola's Maxx line I consider a pretty big game changer in terms of redefining how much battery life a smartphone should have. Every company needs to get in on it

I 100% agree with this. When the HTC Incredible came out the battery life was inexcusable. My coworkers basically rationalized it to themselves that "hey, I have an outlet everywhere I go, what's the deal with battery life. I'll just charge it when I go to bed, charge it at my office and when I go home plug it in again". I couldn't get over how crazy that sounded. Then one of them got the Razr Maxx and finally could see what I was getting at when I said that you shouldn't have to charge it more than once a day.

What annoys me about the Maxx line of phones is that we know it's possible, so why aren't all phones doing this? Obviously it costs them more to put a bigger battery in, but if you were Motorola, wouldn't it be a pretty nice selling point to be able to say "Our entire lineup of phones has the best battery life by far!"?
