What annoys me about the Maxx line of phones is that we know it's possible, so why aren't all phones doing this? Obviously it costs them more to put a bigger battery in, but if you were Motorola, wouldn't it be a pretty nice selling point to be able to say "Our entire lineup of phones has the best battery life by far!"?
If Motorola did this automatically on all their phones and not just the "MAXX" line, then all the other Android manufacturers would take notice.

But then the consumers are like, "WHY THIS SO THICK WHEN YOU MADE THINNER PHONE?!"

The Maxx is not thick at all...

If anything, the normal Razr is too thin.

I understand that, but the consumer will think, "Why did they release this phone that was so thin, but then take it away and give me this fat phone?"

I just don't really give credit to the average Joe consumer thanks to having worked in retail for about 6 years. They're really dumb when it comes to a lot of things, and I could see this being one thing that would make them act that way.

Razr Maxx HD is thinner than the VZW Galaxy Nexus just for reference.

That's amazing.. :l I want that phone and battery then. That's just ridiculous. I didn't actually compare the devices. I own a Nexus, and with that phone being so thin. Wow. I don't have to root and ROM my device for better battery. I can just leave it alone and throw a launcher on there and call it a day!

D:

Wow.

My biggest issue with my Gnex is battery life. I'd kill to have a nexus phone with a battery like what is in the Maxx. It'd be even better if it was removable/replaceable.

The Maxx is really thin. When I am in the car I will put my phone under my leg, instead of putting it back in my pocket. The Maxx will slide right out from under my leg if the brakes are pushed hard.

The reason they could get such a huge battery in the maxx is partly BECAUSE it wasn't removable. They didn't have to design around having room for contacts and such. They could solder it wherever they wanted on the board and fill up as much space as possible inside.

I love that. It's an enormouse battery in a tiny frame whilst the iPhone 1-4S has had less than 1600 mAh. Android users now have double that in the MAXX line. That's crazy.

Holy shit!
My new favorite toy is a sleeper.

Why is nobody talking about this? Its the size of an iphone and has a stronger battery than Motos previous line.

Saw one over at Verizon when I was investigating the LG intuition (just for fun), saw this sucker and it didnt have a label. Had to look it up online. This is probably the perfect phone for me. This is what I need after giving up my Droid.

Brother just updated our plan and grabbed the Maxx tonight. I'll wait a while and see what he thinks about it. Might get the M linked in shorty's post above.

Its only on Verizon and right now Verizon is by far the most expensive carrier. Think long and hard about what you really want.

i like motorola phones the most and the razr m looks like it would be a good phone until razr hd comes out. i really hate the non replaceable batteries though. my old droid x got around half a charge after 18 months of use and when i put a new battery in it it lasted noticeably longer, so thats definitely an issue. no mo' disposable phones pleez!

I'm on his plan, he has to go verizon for USB data cards in his mobile machines. He has 6 phones, 2 USB devices, 8 gigs shared and the bill is ~325 on the share everything plan.

I looked at the "M" the other day and I was a bit disappointed in one nitpicky thing...

They advertise "edge to edge glass". But in reality there is a thin sharp plastic bezel that runs around the outside edge of the phone and is slightly higher than the display itself. I always felt my thumb catching that border whenever I swiped across and off the screen. Then I went and looked at the other RAZR phones and they all have the same thing. Not a dealbreaker, but not something I was expecting for a phone that had such glowing reviews of build quality. It just felt cheap and unfinished to me. A small bumper would probably help fix it by giving a much more pronouced border but in the nude it would get very annoying to me.

Its nitpicky. The M has about the smallest bezel you could ever hope to see. The whole point is to have a good Android device thats small. Its much thinner and lighter than the original droid, and has better battery life besides. I'd get it if the thing wasnt exclusive to Verizon. I cant see myself spending 3 grand over the life of the contract.

Tbh a bezel is a good thing to have as it helps with one handed operation by preventing false registers on the touchscreen.

I'm not really complaining about the placement bezel per se, simply the...uhh...sharpness of it? It was a very sharp, rough edge that I found to be obtrusive compared to other devices.

Launches October 18th

Yup, I saw the announcement on Phonescoop just now.
Will need to play with one in a store but I do like the stats. My concern is its still kinda large and heavy for what you get.
In fact a girl in my english class was just complaining about this. She said none of the nice new phones these days can fit inside a ladies pocket. I hadnt thought about that but she's probably right.

One of my main complaints about the Razr Maxx was that it didn't use the software keys, which led to me hitting nav buttons accidentally all the time (happens with my S3 too). I'm glad they finally went with software buttons.

Do the new RAZRs have a better display in terms of mura? The original Droid RAZRs had a problem with the screen being all splotchy with a black background in a dark room. Absolutely unpleasant for Netflix in the dark.
