What do I give up going to the DROID and what do I gain besides more weight, larger footprint, and larger screen? Can the DROID do everything the BB Tour does?

Thanks gentlemen.

No, Blackberry = Blackberry email servers.

If your device is used primarily for work emails, then BlackBerry is superior. But you can live with Droid email, it just won't be as fast.

Otherwise, Droid has the advantage in everything else.

Unless you want the BB form factor and the BB push e-mail, I"d highly recommend the Droid instead. I have a Tour and can't wait to ditch this thing for the incredible.

The newest VZW update has caused my battery to drain in less than a day with very light use. Previously i'd just charge at night. The trackball also is very bad, i'm on my 4th replacement device.

I think VZW is gettign ready to release the Bold 9650 which is basically a Tour with WiFi and a trackpad instead of a trackball. If you do get one I'd wait for that.

Agreed on the Tour update = poor battery life and the horrible trackball. I can't wait to get rid of my Tour.

Go for the Droid over the Tour. Unless your company is tied up with BB or you use Exchange you won't lose much in that regard. Other than the keyboard the Android is better. Android gets gmail basically instantly if thats your thing, to much of a battery for me though so I leave it at 30 minutes intervals. Everything else Android is superior at. From functionality to looks to apps. I had a Tour and couldn't get rid of it fast enough, I actually traded it for a Pre and have since added a Hero to the mix.

As others have said - the Blackberry has better email support (your work email system may not even support Droid depending on how strict they are with security settings), a better keyboard, is smaller/lighter, and generally has better battery life.

The Droid has a bigger/higher resolution capacitive touch screen, more apps available to download, a superior browser, faster processor.

Very much depends on what you look for in a phone. For what its worth, I bought a Tour last September, tried it for two weeks, and ended up returning it in favor of waiting for the Droid. Which I sold five months later.

I agree with the others about the Tour. Have one now and it's my first venture into the smartphone world. The email is great and I like BBs way of arranging things. But be realistic. It's a phone made for working professionals. Limited games and apps, the trackball does suck, and it doesn't really have the oomph of some of the android devices.

i just upgraded from a touch pro to the tour and love it! I have had zero problems with battery life with the newest update. Apps are not as expansive as the droid but unless you use your phone for games alot it does not make a difference. I have pandora, fandango, google maps. All the important ones that I need. I don't know about the droid but the tour has a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can easily hook it up to your car to listen to pandora.
Keyboard is toss up. I was not a huge fan of the slider keyboard. Too much of a hassle just to type a quick text/email. Some people like having a huge keyboard like the droids.

As a Tour owner, unless you have to have the BB for work (BES), go with the Droid, or wait a couple of weeks for the Incredible.
