Droid X: The next Moto Droid phone for Verizon

NE2 shows up as $50 credit for me. I have it available and my lowest price is $149 online. How do you have $100?

i just spoke with VZW representative, and he did say it was $100 and he they were able to change my date so i can use it today. i'm waiting for the web page to load because he said, i would have the best price if i bought it online for $99.00

It basically indicates it's either a $50 credit or $30 credit (depending how much you pay for your current plan). I will call and ask anyway. BTW, it does say you can use it beginning with month 20 (not 24) anyway. Please do confirm if you get it for $99.

not sure what to say, i seem to remember getting $100.00 towards a new phone every time i've used the NE2 and i got $100.00 towards my phone today, but i've been with verizon wireless for almost 9 years now, maybe i was grandfathered in from an older deal. and august would have been 20 months, but they moved it up one month.

Got my X this morning and quick impressions are:

-It's official: I can never go back to a screen smaller than what the X has. Even people at work were in awe of the size of the screen and said it makes things much easier to see and do. My hands aren't the biggest but I have no problems using the X at all. Typing is much, much better than the Droid for me (I don't use my Droid's physical keyboard at all).

-It's much more fluid than my Droid running Froyo OC'd @ 1.2GHz. The Droid is fast but the X is much more smooth when doing pretty much anything.

-The camera is awesome for a phone. I don't use them much because they usually suck but I can see myself using the X's more. I briefly tested out panorama mode and it worked really good.

Still setting it up to my liking. First thing I did was download LauncherPro, which works flawlessly of course. I'm really digging the phone though so far.

Lucky....I went to BBY this morning, was the first one in, guy said unless my name was this one guy who had his reserved, they didn't have any...went to VZW across the street, they were sold out, I get mine tomorrow :\.

Well I went to my local VZW store and they refused to honor the early upgrade offer. So I walked outside, called *611 and ordered one with overnight shipping. I got to skip the rebate doing it this way, too bad I have to wait an extra day. Tomorrow I'll take my X into that store and flaunt it to the woman who said I couldn't upgrade early when I go to buy a case.

Yeah, I normally hate virtual keyboards, hate the iphone one, hate the normal droid one...Tried the X one in the VZW store today while I was waiting, I was pleasantly surprised.. Should be able to get used to it, and theres also Swype which I've never used but everyone syas is great.

I did What PlatG did. My NE2 date was 7-21-10 do I called customer service and asked to have it pushed up so I could buy today. They did it with no questions asked. I also have to say that the agent on the phone was one of the friendliest CS agents i have ever dealt with. On top of that she was very knowledgeable about the actual phone. I ordered mine online and avoided the mail in rebate crap. Got it for 99.99 at the end of the day. Overnighting it so I should have it by 10:30 tomorrow morning.

Yeah this is definitely a case where the screen size helps with typing big time. I can fly on both the stock keyboard and Swype with the X.

That being said, (and ROM flashing aside), I really can't wait for Froyo to be pushed to this thing.

well I finally took the plunge into 3G... it says shipped by 7/23 - they ran out. Don't forget the 10% off code from retailmenot if you're ordering from vzw's website. It's either that or free overnight.

BTW, the NE2 for $100 is if you have a plan of $79.99/mo or more... since I am on a $50/mo plan (primary line) I am only getting $50. The website is apparently wrong about the 2 figures.

Cancelled my order. They all lied to me. Rep at store said I could have it this morning if I ordered online. CS rep on the phone yesterday morning confirmed that. Website said available and shipping immediately. Today cs rep says orders placed online yesterday after 2:30 PM wouldn't ship until the 23rd I recieved my order confirmation at 11:30 AM. I called today to ask why I had no tracking and all they could tell me is it would ship as soon as they had stock. I had to cancel my order I am going to be in Alaska from 7/23 until 8/8. No one seemed to want to make it right. They all assured me I would have it this morning and even today according to the information that they gave their own CS reps I should have had it today.

Called my local Verizon store and the rep guarantees that I will have it in my hand on Monday by 3 PM. He said his direct fulfillment warehouse has good stocks of the phone. What the hell Verizon, your inventory systems can't track all your different warehouses? You have inventory sitting in distro centers all around the country yet you cannot deliver mine as you promised. Your online system stinks.

I got in on the 1-year contract for $230 by going through the corporate discount website. Not too bad. CA tax sucks though.

For the bootloader issue, welcome to what Milestone users have been facing for almost a year now. While DROID users get to load ROM after ROM, we're left with nothing. It's next to impossible to crack and there might be a few vulnerabilities, but it's not easy. People have bricked phone after phone trying to crack the Milestone's bootloader.

Good luck with the DROID X. I guess this is a bigger slap in the face after the DROID let you guys do everything. Well, we Milestone users thought it was a slap in the face when the US users got all the freedom with the Droid. I guess it's even now? lol.

Seriously though, I suspect Verizon will require something like this on all of it's Android phones, I was shocked they were so liberal with the Droid, but they must be getting tired of getting bricked phones back for warranty service that were flashed with different ROMs by noobs...

I'd much rather they just included a warning that you risk voiding your warranty if you flash new unapproved ROMs, bu tthen again Verizon has been well known for screwing up perfectly good phones with their demands/specs.

I don't think this is a Verizon issue. It's a Motorola thing. They've done this to all of their phones since the Droid. I know this is Verizon's second major Moto phone or something, but this is nothing new. Apple has done the same thing with the bootloader checks in the 3GS too....

got my Droid X today and it's a GREAT phone. i just can't wait for froyo, to come to droid x.

it is somewhat of a let down though. it was a much better experience when i first got the Droid then when i got the Droid X.
