I'm the opposite, I used to hit the soft touch buttons on accident all the time, I love the physical buttons!

i agree, i wish i could disable the search button on my droid, i never use it and because of how i hold my phone it seems to get bumped a lot

How do you turn on the screen on the Droid X? On the EVO you have to hit the power button on the top which can be awkward... the placement of the iPhone button was nicer.

Same way - power button up top. I think all android phones do this? There might be some lock screen apps that will allow you to use other things - like the N1's trackball.

I wish that HTC would allow the screen to wake up with the optical track pad, I hate using only the power button on my Inc.

You can turn the screen on using either the power button or the home button.

I have ATK set to aggressive to kill anything and it's been fine.

Some other quibbles:
- When you go to manage applications they are in random order and not ABC order. Kind of weird.
- HTC_IME keyboard mod does not work with the X. Unfortunately development has stopped on it and I don't know if it ever will. The stock keyboard is nice with the multitouch, but the auto correction is lacking. It won't capitalize i to I. Nor does it put an apostrophe in between Ill automatically when you type.

Yeah, but hopefully they nailed the input with multitouch now.. the prediction is the next step. The iPhone has this nailed down with state of the art prediction and correction. HTC got pretty close which is why HTC_IME is nice... unfortunately it lacks multitouch.

My compliant with the new SwiftKey Beta is lack of multi-touch. I've gone from HTC > Swype > SwiftKey

Why is it so hard to make a keyboard with multitouch? Shouldn't most of the logistics be taken care of by OS libraries?

But swype and swiftkey are about drawing out what you're typing right? Do you really need multitouch? I understand there are rare occurances in Swype where you need to key in something like entering it into a dictionary for the first time, but other than that, unless you are using all the keyboards as a traditional punch in keyboards, you shouldn't need multitouch for these motion-based keyboards? Correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't had my coffee this morning.

You're absolutely right and it boggles me that these software/phone guys can't make a multitouch keyboard. To me it's absolutely useless for a non multitouch keyboard. Stock Android is the same as typing on a HTC Touch Diamond 2 or something. With today's resistive screens being very good at accepting touch input, you would get the same kind of typing experience on a non multitouch capable capacitive keyboard as a resistive keyboard. It's kinda lame. In fact I had a decent time with the HTC WinMo phones simply because HTC_IME is that good at prediction....

Swiftkey is just a keyboard available for any Android user that has supposedly really good predictive text. It doesn't have the mechanics Swype does at all since it's a regular keyboard. I have it on my Droid 1 and it's not really all that special IMO.

That being said, I've used the stock Moto multitouch keyboard on my Droid X almost exclusively over Swype but the option to switch is always nice of course.

Swype yes, SwiftKey is just predictive text so you need to enter every letter.

I was wrong. HTC_IME works on the Droid. I forgot you had to check the box for it in the keyboard settings. Yay!

It's most likely so that carriers (Verizon) can charge extra for tethering etc.
Did you even read the link? Anyway, I can confirm that HDMI-out does *not* work in Act1 video player, Youtube etc.--only in Gallery. However, it played my DVD-rip of Avatar just fine. My biggest complaint with the HDMI out is that photos aren't full screen and they aren't displayed at true 720p--they seem to be upsampled from some crappy resolution and the colors look...dithered? And there are black borders. Why put a 16:9 resolution as the default for camera mode when you're still going to display them with borders?

He confirms 30fps 720P video as well, that is awesome. I thought it was around that but never verified it myself yet.
