Need to see the keyboard.
Otherwise I am not interested.

The Droid X, formerly known as the Shadow and Xtreme, has always been shown to be a touch tablet design. If its a keyboard you want, you'll have to wait for the Droid 2, or pick up a Droid 1 or LG Ally now. I do hope we get more Android devices with real keyboards though, even though I can type alright on the touch screen now, its ridiculously slow compared to the real keyboard. And my accuracy drops into the toilet. Suddenly made sense why everyone I know with an iPhone has such poor grammar and spelling when sending text messages.

I'm crossing my fingers that that 2Ghz/Tegra model Motorola claimed would launch in 2010 will have a real keyboard.

This, I absolutely hate touch screen. I have storm aside from its shortcommings, I just will not buy another keyboardless phone. The HTC 8125 was the last slider I had it was great having the keyboard and I miss it!

Hope the droid comes out soon so I can buy it! lol I hate my storm

Yeah, i currently have the HTC Kaiser (AT&T Tilt). My contract ended and a new Droid 2 is probably why i was able to pick up a Droid for free (with 2 year contract of course). Damn, i should have waited. :|

The Droid 2's keyboard looks vastly superior to the original because it has convex, so you can actually touch type.

The 2Ghz thing is strange. That seems like it would kill the battery life. Maybe it's just dual core. Or, more likely, just a moto executive talking nonsense.

DroidX is way to big imo. Bigger screen on devices that get dropped and smacked around is fail.

Of course compared to one of the smallest Android phones it will look massive.

What do you mean smallest??? The Nexus is one of the biggest ones. Incredible has same screen size but larger body and Evo is the largest so that's only 2 that are bigger.

The phone in the pic above is a Droid Eris which has a 3.2 inch screen. Yeah it's one of the smaller android phones.

Depends what its manufactured on and its architecture. The OMAP3430s in current Moto Droids easily OC to 1Ghz, with many hitting 1.2-1.3Ghz with low voltage kernels, and those 3430s are on 65nm. I can easily see a similar chip being manufactured on a 45nm process, such as the OMAP3630s are, clocking to 2Ghz with having similar battery life to current devices. I don't think anyone has a fab up and running that can manufacture something as complex as a CPU on anything under 32-45nm though. Not sure where Texas Instruments and Qualcomm fab their chips either.

So Droix and Droid 2 are pretty much confirmed to be 1ghz. It would seem they are using the Omap 3640 CPU which is clocked at 1GHZ but we need to wait and see.

Man cant wait!

Clock speeds are great but if they can keep the battery life as good as the Droid (or preferably better), then I think I may have a winner in the Droid X *cringe*... I hate that name.

I'm still concerned with MotoBlur but hopefully it'll be able to be turned off like their other phones. I do remember Motorola being somewhat unhappy when someone on their official forums asked about rooting.

MotoBlur? Shit, i just googled that since my Droid is on the way, and i found this:

"When first turned on, First generation Motoblur-based phones force a new user to create a Motoblur account, denying access to the main screen until the account is established."

Ack! I have to disable that shit right off the bat...damn i need to figure out how to disable this stat.

since it saves everything on the phone to its cloud, why wouldnt you think you would need an account to access it? i went through the interactive motoblur demo today, it actually seems pretty cool. the focus on social networking may be a bit strong for me, but it seems to have a really good email and messaging structure. the contacts integration looks nice too.

You need(ed) a Google account to access the home screen of any Android phone too, not that crazy.
