My experiences with Samsung have been lackluster to the point where I'll never buy one of their phones again. Absolute junk phone brand IMO.

Your mileage may vary of course.

They also kinda dicked over Moment<?> buyers too. Originally, they promised up upgrade to Android 2.x, but later reneged and said 1.5 would be the only update. I gather from various sources and comments that this is a common practice for them.

well the behold II is finally getting 1.6 lol finally.

makes me worry if I got a Galaxy S we'd get screwed the same way and never get 2.2 lol. but it did get rooted.

I'm hoping UNC will drop by again and give us more info on the X

UNCjigga, thanks for taking the time to post. My question is this:

What is your overall impression of this phone based on other phones you have tested/used? Thanks in advance.
I had an Incredible before this--I've now made the Droid X my primary personal phone (yes, I get to keep it!) I mentioned to someone in a PM that I also have a Droid2, and it's sitting in a desk when I leave work. I really like the big screen on the Droid X, and with Swype I don't think I need a keyboard (yes, it's that good!) At first I really missed HTC's Sense interface, but I got used to Blur. Now I'm only missing Flash in the browser--again Froyo can't get here soon enough!

Sounds good. Thanks for the update. Can't wait to get mine now.

Maybe UNCjigga can use an app to verify what processor the phone really has? I'm not sure what app would work best though.

I hope it isn't a Snapdragon.
In an earlier post I gave specs from the System Info app (something I found in the Market.) It very specifically states GPU is a PowerVR SGX 530. That pretty much negates Snapdragon imo, as Qualcomm uses AMD Adreno-based GPU cores. TI uses PowerVR with OMAP.

Just wanted to apologize on the lack of updates--I'm on business travel over the past 2 weeks and don't have the bandwidth to upload 720p videos to Youtube or a whole host of pics. I will try again later this afternoon.

UNC -

Couple of quick questions:
Can you confirm that this phone takes micro-sd and if so where is it located ? (I've seen two specs that suggest it does not take external memory and one spec (clearly wrong) that claims the phone only has 2 MB of internal memory.

Have you compared this phone directly to the Samsung Galaxy which is rumored to be available on Verizon in August ? If so any comments ?

Have you compared this phone directly to the Evo if so any comments ?

How is battery life relative to other smart phones you've used (I've heard one rumor that suggested battery life is 8 hours of constant usage - which would be 2x evo but not sure if this is accurate) ?

Thanks!

Ya know, the last few seconds of that commercial they flash the screen right after it says Droid, at like 12 seconds.. it's under the original writing but above the date. anyone know what that says?

After playing around with an Evo today, I'm starting to think that 4.3" inch screen devices are actually pretty cool.

So the Event is TMW!, Any one know who is doing coverage? Engadget doesnt seem to be doing it since they usually have a post up by 8pm with times for the event in different time zones.

I want a live stream!

So what's the concensus on this vs. Evo?

Giving up the front facing camera and 4G for longer battery life (due to 45nm) and much faster CPU and GPU and more reliable network?

My take:
-Although you're obviously paying more for it, the network is huge for me. Sprint just isn't there yet for me.

-Motorola build quality has been better than HTC for me.

-Front facing camera is cool but unless more people have it available, I don't see the point. iPhone actually has the advantage here but it's wifi only. GG AT&T.

I know there's going to be something about this phone I won't like because nothing can be perfect. I really hope motorola didn't botch this one up too bad though.

After using my Garmin GPS with a 4.3" screen I can't see using a smaller screen...ever. This will be my first smartphone. I've put it off till now because of the screen sizes being too small till now. As for this vs. EVO, in my area there are too many "holes" in Sprint's coverage, especially in spots where I spend a lot of time. Verizon has it covered.

Theres no "holes" in Sprint coverage.
Even if you manage to find that "hole in coverage, you cna roam for free.

Can't wait for the X to get rooted and custom ROMs to proliferate, should be amazing once that happens.

Yeah I agree and by the looks of it the rooters/hackers are getting pretty damn good at it. The HTC Aria and the Samsung Galaxy S have already been rooted and they just barely came out.
