Droid X: The next Moto Droid phone for Verizon

OK, now droid life is saying they're NOT going to be Snapdragons, and are in fact confirmed to be OMAP 3630s @ 1ghz.

That can't be right.. no way. Plus the snapdragon isn't as good as the omap.

Why would they put the omap and its powerful 530 graphics chip in the 3.7" Droid 2. And a slower, weaker adreno graphics in there new top dog 4.3" screen. No way.

Why put better graphics in the smaller phone with smaller screen. They wouldn't. I think either this is wrong. Or it and the Droid 2 both have a snapdragon. There's no way just the Droid 2 would be better

makes sense. I would have been very surprised for them to go with snapdragon after the success they've had with OMAP in the original droid.

Droid-Life is the only site that reported the July 19th date, The Ad at most says 7.2010 Meaning july but its not 100% clear that it says 7.2.2010, It might be 7/12/2010 which would be a Monday the 7th is a Wednesday phones usually come out Fri/Monday kinda thing

Where did you get the 7th from? The '7' refers to the month, July, not the day of the month...

And if it was 7.2.2010, that means it would come out on the 2nd, which would in fact be a friday.

just saying stuff ha, Yea 7/2/10 is a Fri hmm, I wonder when they will start pre-orders, Wed needs to come now! Maybe Wed night or right after the confrence or something.

Also still no info exactly on when the D2 is coming out tons about the X we shall see on Wed!

I cant find it now, but back when I first started overclocking my droid, I did some reading/research on the OMAP 3430. I found a document online that said the 3430 65nm process designed for clock speeds up to 600mhz, and that the 3630 was a 45nm process designed for 1000Mhz and higher.

So I don't think Motorola is OC'ing the CPU from the factory.

(I just wish I could find that friggin webpage.)

This would make pretty good sense too seeing how the Droid can hit higher speeds with no issues on the 65nm production.

hmm, I just looked into it trying to find some official clock speed from moto but there is none listed from what I can find the the 3630/3640 have the same chip layout. Meh idk :O. If a Chip is rated at 1ghz it can OC better then a chip that is supposedly rated 300mhz less.

Guess we will hopefully find out on Wed

All android phones that can upgrade to 2.2 Froyo will i believe.

The Incredible has Flash Lite. It can play Flash content such as ads, videos, and even games, but they're all pretty slow.

Flash 10.1 will be much, much faster.

So you can view 720p videos on an HD screen. Makes more sense than trying to fit component ports on the side of a phone. Plus it looks good for marketing.

Hum so what are the trade offs between driod X and galaxy S. As far as I can tell Galaxy S is slight thinner but has a flat back and no flash for the camera. Other than that they seem fairly similar. Wonder if there are other significant differences (perhaps reception or usage as a phone?). How does the new touch wiz thingy on the samsung compare to the new ninja blur ? Oh well. decision decision. Of course neither have a front camera like the iphone 4 and evo (guess the marketing spies missed those features)

I had a u740 and an Omnia 1, and neither had good reception where I worked or worked in the subway systems. My E815 and Droid worked in the tunnels and had better reception where I worked.

I'm not trying to knock Samsung, but my experience with them hasnt been too good as for as reception. I guess YMMV...

My experiences with Samsung have been lackluster to the point where I'll never buy one of their phones again. Absolute junk phone brand IMO.
