What they never practice for is a water landing. And I don't think they sim engine failure for both engines.

If I understand correctly, he routinely practiced the exact same scenario in simulation (full loss of thrust shortly after takeoff) with the same aircraft departing the same airport.

Best possible pilot to have on the job in such an event.

The folks on-board that plane were damned lucky Sully was flying the plane as I doubt 1 in 1000 other pilots would have saved the plane and its passengers. His actions reminded me of Neil Armstrong's actions as they were descending to the Moon. The flight plan had them landing in a field of car sized boulders and Armstrong calmly maneuvered downrange to avoid them running very close to abort fuel levels to do so. And, this all came after the 1202 and 1201 alarms.

Those guys truly had the right stuff -- RIP Neil Armstrong...

LOL at the embedded (and out-dated) video! The guy tries to sound like he know what he's talking about when he says that Lithium batteries are called "litho batteries" right before someone else calls them LiPo (Lithium Polymer).

That reporter had a really weird way of talking.

There was another news article I saw somewhere else that said people died due to drone hitting a plane while landing. Can't seem to find it now, they must have pulled it off after finding out it did not happen.

You're not crazy, it's in the OP here.

I just knew one of these things was going to take out a commercial jet and kill hundreds of people. Now look what's happened. Hundreds on the plane and many more on the ground killed, just because someone was playing with their drone near an airport.

I stand by my statement of "Reading comprehension, FAIL." The OP's commentary was deliberately contrasting that expectation/worry with reality. Of course, he was assuming that the drone strike actually happened.
