Mother's Day Special, Ends Soon

Wouldn't you know, I have one in transit to me, but not at $42
A "refurb", and most likely an "A".
I should buy another one, for Mom!

if i get an A (instead of the good B) from newegg, can i RMA it for full refund or does it have to be exchange (for exchanges-how many times can i exchange it to try and get the B version?)

Newegg is desperate to get rid of those T-bred A's. THe RMA's must be killing them.

will these work in any motherboard that accepts athlon xp's?, or do you need a special mobo for Tbreds?

yes it will work with that shuttle (if you configure the item, it shows up to 2400xp and probably higher will work)

btw it looks good, but i still don't get the point of shuttles-i have a laptop and an external HD that make a shuttle worthless to me

Tbreds don't need anything special, as long as your mobo supports xp's
but the point of a Tbred is to overclock it past 2000MHz, so a mobo that you can overclock with is good

I just wanted something small that looked good to put next to my tv. I plan on hooking the video card up to my tv and using a cordless mouse and keyboard so i can fool around from my couch and surf the web on my tv, watch dvds and such.

Does the ECS K7S5A recognize the Tbred or do I need a different bios?

Tbreds do not work in all XP compatible MBs.

Dang, I checked & checked for weeks to get the 1700 off the refurb section then they go & drop the price this far!. The price drop for a 1.47Ghz processer is unreal.

Thoroughbreds run great in my pre-XP 3 year old Fic-AZ31 Via KT133 mobos. Maxed out the multiplier at 18x, with 100MHz fsb (cut & paint). A $30 chip on a $10 mobo with a $39 GF3ti pushed to nearly GF4 Ti4200 speeds. I love these chips!

Want another 1.5V "B" (@ 2.2 2.4 GHz) for my main rig. Hope Newegg got rid of all their old "A"s.

Tbred A will do about 1.8-1.9 ghz
B will do 2.0 - 2.2. Newer stepping as high as 2.4-2.5

I got an A and it is doing 1.8 with standard cooling and minor FSB modification. My MOBO does not have a 1/5 divider, so it does not like going over 144. So I think once I get my ecs L7S7A2 I might be able to hit 2gigs.

However, I want a B, and since so many people are getting A's from newegg, I did some searching. I found a small retailer that will sell a 1700+ T'Bred B for $44.95 (plus shipping). But the good deal is that he told me he would look for a particular stepping for me and try and get that to me without extra charge. If this turns out to be true and a good deal, once I get my chip I will post his web addy so everyone can get in on this deal.

The "U" in DUT3C tells us this is a 1.60 VCore "B" chip, and good for about 2Ghz. I'm looking for the DLT3C "B" chip, with the 1.50 VCore and potential to hit 2.2 to 2.4GHz. The tricky thing is, the Thoroughbred "A" chips were DLT3C too. You need more data, like the stepping code, to know what you have. A's have a stepping code which ends in "A" While B's have a stepping code which ends in "B" (AIUGB).
