Not too bad, but

There is a constant electric buzzing sound in the cabin, I am guessing the inverter.

The Torque from the electric motor feels like it has some power, its not too bad (0-60 8.5)

When you floor it the gas motor kicks in and sounds like you are in Neutral.


It handled pretty well for its self, I did a short Slalom in it, It did not bobble and or lean too much, it felt much better then expected.


Thats all I could get from the 1 min test drive I had in it.

I got to drive the Volt today. Pretty disappointed.

The first impression was that, whoever designed the interior needs to be fired. Why are there 40+ buttons in the center console? There's absolutely no need for that many button regardless of how many electronic toy you have in the car. There's a button for radio, XM, DVD, and USB/HDD music option. That's 4 buttons that could be rolled into 1 button called "source", a design that every other car model has done. Add to the fact that the center LCD screen is also touch-enabled... there's no logic behind the design at all... It took me minutes just to figure out how to turn on the GPS.

The interior feels like a toy. The whole interior is designed with combination of cheap, hard plastic and toy-like smooth plastic. My WRX has better interior feel. The interior space design also makes little sense. There's cubby locations in the center console that are next to useless. The door handle and door/window button locations are wrong.

Driving it wasn't any better. Acceleration was alright, better than Prius. Handling was pretty standard. At least the suspension wasn't too soft (probably extra stiff to support the battery). The brakes were terrible though. You have to press deep to get any engagement in the brakes. I guess first-half of the brake travel is for the KERS system...

Overall better than the Prius, but still crappy "car" for the money. A Fiesta is much better car for half the price. I could look past the meh handling and questionable exterior. I just can't forgive the sheer idiocy behind the interior design.
