Florida:
-Gov. Rick Scott: "We shouldn't be subsiding people's addiction"
- The measure takes effect July 1.
- the law provides "personal accountability"
- welfare recipients who test positive would be banned for a year

i want forced birth control via injection to all welfare recipients to stop creating generations of people on welfare, but this is a small step.

How about 5yr max limit on welfare?
And forcing welfare recipients to work, like in NYC?

"Birth control" is already in place - for example, among black women in NYC the abortion rate is 60% of pregnancies.

And forcing welfare recipients to work sounds good in theory, a lot of the kids of welfare recipients are already getting poor parenting, taking the parents even further out of the loop will result in kids even more completely fvcked up than now (and I say this as a Libertarian who's not a huge fan of welfare to begin with).

Excellent! I agree, people on welfare should, at the least, be provided free birth control, condoms, vasectomies, etc.

He said welfare recipients should have mandatory abortions / sterilizations, not blacks / minorities...

Yes, voluntary vasectomies and tubal ligation should be provided to everyone on government assistance that is of breeding age for free. If there was an easy, painless, reliable and easily reversible way to sterilize people on government assistance, then the argument could be made for it being mandatory. One of the best ways to prevent a new generation of the impoverished is to limit one's children.

What? You have something against supporting businesses? They've got to have English speaking labor that can work under the table along with the 13 million illegal aliens. On welfare they don't have a choice but to work under the table and the ones with the kids need the money more. The government testing them for drugs just saves them that much more in expenses. Next you'll be suggesting we actually tax the wealthy and bust them for hiring the lowlifes!

Seems like a fair deal to me. If this was a better country drugs would be something you couldn't lose your job over, therefore driving you into the hands of the government's welfare.

But seeing as the United States isn't one of those better countries, put the heat on the junkie from all sides. I want the junkie so depraved and so desperate that they have no choice but to be killed. This is going to be a great summer. With Florida and Arizona forsaking the social contracts of human decency. These states will surely be razed by the desperate mob.

Those tests are not cheap? I'm thinking $20 each? Do you think that the savings generated by kicking out those who test positive will outweigh $20 every month for each recipient?

And it came out in the other thread that the governors wife owns a testing facility. :whiste:

do the same for all the schools and include teachers and admin. If the drug dealers can target the schools then the schools all need to be drug tested.

... and as pointed out in the other thread, how often will the legislators who voted for this be tested?

I was drug tested as a condition of my employment from at least my last 3 employers. Its good to know those getting free handouts will be treated the same as me.

All while enriching the governor and his wife. You would make a good little peasant.

I'm guessing they would, yes. $20 per person is a drop in the bucket compared to the other costs.

States (even Texas) are also starting to figure out that sending someone to drug treatment facilities for crimes related to drug use (not dealing, mind you) is also a lot cheaper than housing them in prison. Especially since once they've been in prison, odds are pretty good they'd end up back there again eventually.

You do not need to drug test everyone, that is what random testing a small percentage is all about.

I disagree. The whole point of the program is to help feed, cloth and shelter those is need. And being that there is a finite amount of money to the program, weeding out those who don't deserve it will open up money for those who do.

I think many people who are unable to work are on disability because they have addicitions? I guess we should just execute them, huh.

In principle, I'm in favor of the idea. There is no Constitutional guarantee to free money, so I think the condition of passing a drug test is a great idea. I'm against anything that helps to perpetuate a system where we have generations of unproductive people living on welfare.

Regarding this argument:

And forcing welfare recipients to work sounds good in theory, a lot of the kids of welfare recipients are already getting poor parenting, taking the parents even further out of the loop will result in kids even more completely fvcked up than now

I'd argue that these parents are already pretty fucking useless. They're using drugs and clearly not contributing toward making these kids functional productive adults. Taking them out of the loop would probably be a benefit.
