here's a good song - Cigarettes & Alcohol by Oasis.

Personally, I can care less if they legalize cheeba. I don't do it, I've done it many times, but I realized that I don't need to do it. MY roomate does it, fine with me...what am i saying, i might smoke a joint of friday...

<< Alcohol is food >>

Yeah, those calories from beer and whiskey are just the kind you want in a balanced diet. </sarcasm>

Alcohol isn't as directly harmful. If you have a drink a week, you will only recieve minimal, if any, permanent damage. If you smoke pot once a week, there will be plenty of long term affects. Personally, I don't understand why you would want to do either.

EDIT: spelling

It's quite simple why drugs are illegal. Organized crime wants them to be. By pushing for drugs to be illegal, organized crime and drug lords make a crap load by being able to charge high prices.
The reason alcohol isn't illegal is because we kinda tried that already and it wasn't very effective.

Deeko: Then please explain why cigarettes are legal, while marijuana is not. Direct negative effects from cigarettes are as bad, if not worse, as marijuana.

I think you're going to do more long term damage from getting drunk once a week, then smoking a joint once per week.

I'd take weed over alcohol - but both are just escapes that lead nowhere. ecstacy seems to be popular these days...but it's not as safe (well pure in moderation is).

To whoever is saying you can't "OD on weed". Are you an idiot? Too much of anything is bad for you.

I would rather hit a bowl rather than chug a beer any day.

I see no reason to do anything. Pot, smoking, alcohol, any other drugs. The last time I smoked a cigarette I was 16 (I'm 20 now) and then it was only one cigarette and I will never smoke again. I've never smoked pot or done any other illegal drugs and I've never wanted to. And I've only had enough to drink to get 'drunk' once, and I highly doubt I'll ever do that again. People need to learn to have fun without external stimulants. But I've also learned that I just know how to take things less seriously than most people. Thus I never getted stressed and never need anything to get me partying.

I think urbantechie meant that you can't have a lethal overdose on weed, which is pretty much true.

Thraashman, exactly. What is the pull to do that stuff? "Yea, I wanna get a chemical in the synapses between the axons and dendrites and my neurons therefore blocking all messages from passing through. This causes me to act like an idiot. Yea, and I can't wait for the affects of the brain cells I'm killing to start up."

I think an argument can be made that pot leads to other more power and lethal drug use. Most alcoholics don't move on to crack.. Not that ALL pot smokers do.. but probably a lot larger percentage that people who start off on booze..

Man, don't people ever wonder what they're missing? It's easy to say that you don't want drugs and can't see why anyone would if you've never used them. I really think it's a shame when people are scared to try new things simply because they are content with the way things are. Before toilet paper came along people were living great, and a lot of countries still don't use toilet paper, but I personally think my life is improved using toilet paper. I could live without it of course, but why(kindof like weed)? Who knows your life could be improved. If you're judging drugs based on alcohol and cigarettes then you're really missing out, because those are the least enjoyable drugs I've tried(not that I don't like alcohol, but I could give it up no problem if I had all the weed I could ever need). If it's a religious thing, that's respectable, atleast you're standing up for what you believe in, but don't not try things just to say you haven't tried them. I think you should try things atleast a couple of times before you decide you don't like them. I'm definitely not advocating smoking cigarettes, those things will kill you, but pot and alcohol are worth trying a couple of times. Chances are you'll like atleast one of them and be able to enjoy them in a moderated, recreational way. Drugs are all about the person who uses them. Some people do need drugs to fill a void in their life, but the problem lies with the person's life, not the drugs(I should say that while I am in favor of the legalization of all drugs, I personally will never use a majority of the drugs out there because of their hazardous effects. I've only done nitrous, weed and mushrooms and probably won't try too much more. These are the only drugs I've had experiences with so these are the only drugs I can talk about).

No, no, no, no. No offense, but this is the most BS I've ever seen in my life. I'm not scared to try it. I'm just smart enough not to. There are no REAL benifits. No, I'm not judging based on alcohol and ciggarettes. Drugs are much worse, pal. I don't do it to say I haven't, I do it because there is NOTHING POSITIVE to come from doing it. Do I have to say this? It's kind of obvious...drugs are worse than cigs and alcohol dude. Yea why don't I try some drugs a few times so I can OD and die, or how about I drink so I can go get in a car accident and get decapitated or screw some whore and get AIDS(pardon my language please). Yea you may start off in moderation...then it grows and grows until that's ALL you think about. I'm only a junior in HS and there are already kids in school that way. And people don't need drugs to fill a void in life. If they feal that, then maybe they need to reevaluate their life and make some changes in the way they live it, not do some drugs so you can not think about it for awhile. Geez, that's just common sense. At least it should be.
