Ahem . . . using a water bong might not necessarily be that much healthier if you are trying to filter the smoke. It has been said that bong cooled smoke can now be inhaled deeper and held longer, negating the cooling effect.

Just my thought for the day. If you need the link, I can try to look for it . . .

DaLeroy, that's exactly how I feel. They all harm you in some way, but to each his own. I'd rather smoke a joint every once in awhile and have a good time, then cough up lung the next day than sit around and do nothing and still cough up a lung the next day because I smoke cigarettes!

my god, you'd think with such an overwhelmingly pro-marijuana response that it would be legal..

warpo: sure is related to him, glad some people still catch that, hehe

Oh my...after I essentially retract EVERYTHING I said, people are still making personal insults? Come on.....fine I'll tell you my real stance. I don't do it because I have no need to. If other people want to, that's fine by me. And I do think it should be legal for medicine purposes, just so the guy that told me I should die knows. Apoppin, the things I said before DID come from those articles I posted though....but please no one argue about the stuff I said yesterday, as I already retracted that.

Those articles you quoted from are inaccurate.

So you didn't really mean what you posted . . . I can't speak for others personal insults; might have to do with your sig.

Ok, I'll clear this up. What I said last night was GROSSLY exaggerated. It came down to "ok, people want to make fun of me, so I'm pissed, so I'm gonna fight back". So I loaded up some sites, and bingo, there ya have it. Let's all just forgive and forget, eh?

You can do anything you want. I won't stop you.

However, I want to point something out...

Ever hear the term "Burnout"? Every wonder where it came from? Did you ever say to yourself, "Man, I can tell that guy smokes a lot of weed..." Or "God, is that guy a burnout".

I think the reason why "Weed" is illegal is because it is classified as a "mind-altering" drug. Where extended exposure to it leads to a slow down in brain functions, essentially "dumbing-down" the consumer. Alcohol's mind-altering influence is short term, and therefore falls into a different category. We had talked about this in my psychology class in college.

That's why I apply to the theory of "everything in moderation."

Well, most of the time, anyways.

One more thing.

Alaska did have legalization of marijuana on the ballot this year. Though some people on this board predicted that it would be overwhelmingly approved, it was actually defeated by a margin of 3-1.

That says something... doesn't it?

Most people don't want it. Sure, the burnouts want it, and they can have it as far as I am concerned, but for those kids who are growing up... I just don't want them to think that it is socially acceptable to waste their mind. A majority of voters don't think it is.

And even in states where they authorized it for medical purposes, if they tried to pass it for recreational purposes, it would be defeated by a margin of at least 4-1.

Though you compare marijuana to alcohol and lament over the legality difference... Do understand this: Today's society is making every effort to steer kids away from alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs of all sorts. US Society is not being hypocritical in its approach. Let's face, none of it is healthy!

This debate of no weed vs weed use is going to go no where. The people here have used it will defend it and the people here who havent used it will fight against it. Further arguments will be foolish.

California voted on and passed legalization of marijuana for medical purposes. The Clinton administration went against the will of the people and said they'd arrest anybody growing the stuff, even if they had a prescription from their doctor. So much for Al "Will of the People" Gore. Makes you wonder what other misinformation is being spread. If they're so afraid of drugs that they don't allow the voters to make their own choice, I wonder how far they'd go to convince people of the "evils" of marijuana.

And no, I don't smoke pot, never have. Just defending people's right to have a choice over what they do with their own body.

Heh, that took a few edits to say what I wanted. Strange, it must be second hand pot smoke killing my brain cells.

DARE=Dorks Against Real Education?

OH, no no no people! Don't be that way! But seriously, I don't know. Does it mean that?? (a free bowl for the person to name the comedian and TV show I'm thinking of )

After reading this thread last night, I dreamt of running into an old friend. He said hi and passed me a joint!
