My main set:

Pacific CX in Black Onyx
- 8, 10, 14 toms (have a 12 but don't use it)
- Desperately trying to find/buy the 16 inch matching tom - really hard to find!
- Zildjian Cymbals: 20" K Ride, 18" A Custom Crash, 18" A Custom Projection Crash, 14" A New-Beat high hats
- LP Jam Block and Salsa Cow Bell
- Vater sticks, brushes, and whips
- Promark Hot-Rods

My main snare:
Gretsch Renown Maple - 10 lug, all die cast hardware. Natural wood gloss

Head selection:
Toms: Evans Coated G2 top, Clear G1 bottom
Snare: Evans Coated G1 top, Hazy 200 bottom, Puresound snare wire
Bass: Blank (no logos) black front/reso head (Aquarian), Evans Gmad batter head.

I'll probably be replacing the Gmad with an Emad. The Gmad didn't get low enough in pitch for my taste.

What I play:
- Blues jamming
- Latin Jazz & Hard Bop (Bill Holman FTW!)
- Latin/Funk fusion
- Pop Rock
- Rudimental Drumming (marching snare, mainly)
- WGI Indoor Percussion
- Anything really. I generally don't like playing metal, but some of it can be okay I guess. I just really hate double bass.
- I will only play punk rock if I'm paid to do so.

How about you, ATOT?

I've got a black Ludwig Accent thats about 10 years old.
Its a 5 piece and I still have the POS ZBT hi-hat and crash ride that came with it. The crash ride sounds ok if you play on the bell
I have a couple Paiste signature series crashes. I think 14" and 17" but i'll have to double check.
Zildjian 5" splash
The cymbal stands are all double braced
The bass is 22" as usual.
remo pinstripes on all drums except snare which is remo batter
I've got a nice single pedal but don't remember what it is, i'll update.
Hi-hat mounted cowbell and hi-hat mounted tambourine

the kit sounds pretty good for an Accent. I have a blanket in the bass that really helps too

What I play:
- Blues jamming Yes
- Latin Jazz & Hard Bop (Bill Holman FTW!) Yes
- Latin/Funk fusion Yes
- Pop Rock Usually don't but I can
- Rudimental Drumming (marching snare, mainly) Used too, there's no way I could get through all the rudiments now. (I played quads in HS)
- WGI Indoor Percussion No
- Anything really. I generally don't like playing metal, but some of it can be okay I guess. I just really hate double bass. I am poor at double bass as I've never had one
- I will only play punk rock if I'm paid to do so. I've played some Green Day but that's about it

1950s Max Roach Jazz Kit
Ludwig Vistilite blue 5 piece
Gretsch Renown 6 piece
Gretsch Catalina Jazz Kit

I use Zildjian A-Custom

What I play:
- Blues jamming Yes
- Latin Jazz & Hard Bop Yes!!
- Latin/Funk fusion Absolutely
- Pop Rock Not very enjoyable
- Rudimental Drumming I grew up playing rudiments, and I regret not practicing them much anymore. I still use them everywhere around the kit
- WGI Indoor Percussion No
- I'm not a big metal fan. I have practiced double bass before, but don't use it very often.
- I'm not a huge fan of punk rock. My favorite kind of music is Fusion Jazz (Return To Forever, ect.)

My dad had me start playing around the age of 4. He taught me how to read music, and practice rudiments. I've been playing for 14 years.

I started playing drumset around 15 years ago. I still play occasionally, but I don't have one at home. I actually had sorta quit until Rockband came out... Once I bought it for Xbox, my love for drums was renewed

I've been looking for a set on Craigslist for a couple months now. I've been VERY close to biting the bullet on an electric set (something average, probably like a $400-500 Roland set).

Anyone have any experience with Electric sets? I would get a regular one but my roommates would kill me... Plus, being able to throw on headphones would be SO nice.

If you can accept, and be okay with, the fact that electric kits will NEVER recreate the sound and feeling of playing an acoustic kit, then you have pretty much just one good option.

Top of the line Roland V-Drums. They have a few models, but you want to get the ones with the mechanical high hats (they actually move up and down like a real pair), multiple trigger cymbals (bell, face, and edge), and mesh drum pads with rim triggers. These are the only electronic drums that are actually worth the money and feel any good while playing them. You can use REAL pedals (bass + high hat) with these kinds of kits, which makes a HUGE difference!

The downside? They're really, really expensive. The good thing is that you can buy them on a per-component basis. So let's say you want a modest setup: 4 piece + high hats + 2 cymbals, then you can get a pretty decent deal. Resale value is mediocre, which may get you lucky while buying, but if you buy new, you're screwed.

PM me for more info...

Been playing for about 3 years, but im still hesitant to call myself a Drummer. More like a guy who happens to own a drum kit. With a good set of tab and a few hours of practice I can handle simpler stuff like say a Ramones song.

I have a cheap Tama Swingstar set and have slowly upgraded pretty much everything except the shells. DW 7000 pedals, Zildjian A Customs, just put new Remo heads on, Roc N Soc drum throne which is wonderful

My set I haven't played in a long time:
Yamaha stage custom (so-so)
Zildjian A cymbals: 14" HH, 22" ride (love big rides), 16" medium thin crash, 8" splash

I mostly played jazz. There's nothing better than bop! Now days I play piano instead - it feels more rewarding.

I was also drumline captain in high school for 3 years (played snare). I wanted to do DCI but just couldn't put in the ridiculous amount of practice required. I know several people that were in the Scouts/Cavaliers/Phantom and some instructors.
