DS3 high pitch beep???

I've currently got an E6300 on a DS3.

I'm getting quite poor temps with my E6300 which I believe being due to the heatspreader not being flat. I'll be fixing this later in the week when I lap it and the HSF.

Anyway, I keep getting a high pitch beep when playing Battlefield 2142. It's not coming from the case speaker as I've disconnected this.

My core temps are around 51-53C when playing, so I don't think it's that. And also, it only occurs when the game (ie the graphical engine) is playing. If I press escape and go to the menu within the game the beep goes away.

I can't figure out what it is. Is it the Core Duo getting too hot? Lack of power to the graphics card maybe? (It's a Tagan 530W that I've got). One of the chipsets getting too hot? (I've got a 40mm over the Northbridge, which is hot but not burning hot).

I've never come across such a beep. It's just constant and high pitch. Was just wondering if someone could help me understand what it is, and why.

I have the same beep on my board paired with the E6400. Mine starts beeping when I run Orthos for stress testing, and will sometimes stop and the start back up again. As soon as Orthos is turned off the beep stops. I would love to know what is causing it, and my temps are fairly high too.....

If anyone knows what is causing this please let us know

Turn off the cpu fan (smart fan ??) in the bios. There is an on-board speaker device that beeps when the cpu fan is below a certain point. That could be your problem.

Sounds like we have a similar problem sefie.

I've disabled all of the warning settings.

Ah ok. So the cpu is getting hotter, the BIOS expects the fan to be spinning at a certain speed, but it's below that hence the beep? Possibility, although my fan (got a Freezer 7 Pro) usually sits at around 1700rpm. Can try that tonight though.

I'm gonna lap the HSF and IHS this weekend. I've put Artic Silver on virtually everything apart from the Southbridge. Got one of the Zalman Northbridge heatsinks, gonna see if that'll fit next to my Freezer 7 Pro. Also got a fan bracket on the way, I'm gonna mount a 92mm fan over the southbridge and northbridge and get rid of the 40mm fan on the northbridge.

Anyone know where the beep is coming from given that I've disconnected the case speaker.

Is it a beep or a whine? I get a really high-pitched whine from my ds3 when the cpu is under load. I believe it's actually the circuitry on the board and it is highly annoying.
