I will have to run WMC today to see if my DTV is still working fine.

I don't think my laptop handls DTV well, I get choppy screen sometimes when watching certain channels at full screen.

HP DV2000, C2D 1.73ghz, 2GB ram, 7200GO, HP digital tuner Express Card with regular antenna.

Yeah there's probably 2 or 3 TV stations in your tiny ass country anyway. We don't all have 3 acres of land between houses that we can chase sheep on during our free time, unfortunately. So watching TV will have to do.

I am in backwater Canada, I am not even sure analogue is going offline this decade. But the bandwidth has already been sold.

I've been using digital OTA tuners since the end of 2006; also, who needs a converter box when you have an HD-DVR? (Yes, it's a DVR for OTA).

HD-DVR= High Definition Digital Video Recorder

ATSC is the standard used in North America for HD OTA broadcast. The shutdown in question is to turn off the SD broadcast which is NTSC.

Confused yet?

As sdifox said, ATSC is the digital standard for OTA broadcasts in the U.S. As to the device I'm using as a DVR, it's this thing http://www.dtvpal.com/ I even get a7 days of TV Guide data, as long as I can receive a signal from certain CBS or PBS stations that support that feature; otherwise, it makes a guide based on the PSIP data broadcast by individual stations (usally 2-24 hours worth of programming data).

I lost Fox after midnight. The new digital signal is terrible (they switched from 35 to 8).
