Sure you don't have super drive space or lots of ram, but honestly it could be had for cheaper elsewhere.

Also, similarly configured 1500SC for $650 + tax. This one has a large HDD capacity and takes up to 4GB of RAM.

Edit: PowerEdge 600SC also a pretty sweet deal @ $350 with the Celeron CPU.

Very doubtful...dual processors usually need to match. Some of the Compaq Servers I have worked with would allow different processor speeds, but Compaq wouldn't sell the system with different speed processors. I doubt Dell would give you different processor speeds either, but you could always ask. The worst they can do is say "no".

Strongly doubtful...
1. I doubt it would function.
2. I doubt they would ever sell them not matching.
3. It's a price thing. The 1.4Ghz is quite a bit more expensive than the 1.13Ghz.

Are there any coupons floating around out there? I have worked with these servers in the past. For the price and extra processor, this is a good little server. They are somewhat loud though. The airflow through the case is excellent.

What do you use the server for? Anything a normal PC doens't do or wouldn't do? Does the SCSI Hard drive really helps?

I would use this server at home for file storage, an IIS server, and just to play with Linux and Win2k Server. I'll probably use it to stream mp3's too. This is a server though...the onboard video is ati with 4Mb of memory. It is not upgradeable and there is no agp slot. I am pretty sure that this box uses a ServerWorks chipset which requires you to use registered ECC DIMM memory. This is not a machine to buy and try to use as a desktop. The server was build for stability and maximum uptime. It was not designed for gaming and overclocking. You are probably better off with the desktop that Dell has. Search the forums and you'll find it...

You can get a cheapo 1u PIII on ebay for $500ish ... was hoping to get a dell for around that if possible
