When an item is advertised as dual band draft-n, I understand that to mean it can run at both 5ghz and 2.4ghz simultaneously. In such a senario, would having a wireless-g client connecting keep the whole network from slowing to its speed? Or are people still better off using two separate networks/routers?

I know its still just draft, but I was curious.

My opinion is that, it's all depend on the model you are looking at. If the model has two different chipsets for the wireless and designed with a thorough compatibility and flexibility for popular brand name adapters, it would not be lacking on the performance although either clients are on two different frequencies.

If it is dual band and operates on 2.4GHz and 5GHz then you will not have any speed degradation for the clients operating on 5GHz if you have a G client on 2.4Ghz.

802.11a and 802.11b/g/n (Draft-N actually) do not relate one to the other and have a different Radios.

Draft-N would be reduced in the presence of 802.11b/g.

How much? It varies and dependent on the specific device.

So even if the device has two radios for simultaneous, or if i have two routers (one 5ghz and one 2.4ghz), the entire network will slow?

Put the 5Ghz and the wired aside it would work on its own.

When 802.11g Wireless works, what ever is trying to work as Wireless Draft-N would slow down (in a good device it is a small slow down).

Minor correction -- not all devices advertised as dual band support simultaneous dual band.
