Dual Boot Question (2k and 98se)

Okay, gonna be setting up my new system in a few days when everything gets here Anyway, wanna dual boot with 2k and 98se and I'm pretty sure I have the install process down, but I have a question about after I get it all set up.

I want to have 2 - 2gig partitions for both the OSes (that's enough right?), gonna use FAT32 probably. So that leaves me with about 26gig left. Okay, now if I want to install office 2000 (or any other app) in both OSes and use the big partition for that how do I do it and can I? Should I set up a partition for 2k apps and one for 98 apps? I don't really understand how this is gonna work. Any input? Thanks!!

Ya might wanna make your OS partitions a little bigger.

Yep you should have a "common" partition for program like Office that both OSes use. Make sure that's formatted in FAT32.

Then you can have one partition for programs that you run only on W2k and one for w98se. This really depends on how many different programs that you use and how you use the OSes.

Yes do make the OS partitions bigger. As later when you add components and Service Packs things will only get bigger.

I'd make the OS partitions 3 gig, but that's an option. For 2 gig, you could go ahead and use FAT16, that was supposed to be a bit faster then even FAT32.. but I still use NTFS for all my Win2K isntalls.

As for the 'main' partition, each program is different. Some till run without being installed in the second OS, the files are there. Some like an install over the files to create registry entries.. some might mess up with that. Some install different executables for WinNT and Win9x OS's.. so you're srewed if you don't use different directories.

Myself, I jsut install everything except games into Win2K. WinMe (tried it out, never bothered removing), has nothing more then a couple games.. not even a word processor.
